Reflection and Renewal

Although it has been a short week, it’s been a reflective one in the Secondary School. Commencing the week with three short Easter reflections, the students were provided with the space to consider and reflect on the importance of Easter. Jonnie Wintle, a youth minister from Seaforth Anglican Church, reminded us of the spiritual significance of Easter via an engaging and thought-provoking presentation.

National Young Leaders Day

On Tuesday, Redlands students, including our exceptional SRC representatives and some talented Year 11 students, participated in the dynamic 2024 Halogen National Young Leaders Day held at the ICC. Students engaged with a lineup of speakers including Bryson Klein, the Hon. Rose Jackson, Anastasia Woolmer and Paul Gallen, gaining valuable insights and inspiration for their leadership journey

The North Sydney Council Voice of Youth Workshop

On Monday, Eleanor O’Sullivan, Heidi de Saxe, Jake Nochar and Max Taylor from Year 10 attended a Youth Workshop hosted by the Mayor of North Sydney Council. Working with peers from other schools in the local areas, the students were tasked with providing their voices, ideas, and insights into community life to help shape council policy for the future of the local community.

Volleyball Schools Cup

Year 12 students River Stefanovic and Freddie Yates took advantage of a wonderful opportunity to travel to the Gold Coast to play in the Beach Volleyball Schools Cup last week, competing against student volleyball players from around Australia. After making it out of the group stage, their first opponents were in the Top 3 at Nationals and swiftly knocked them out of the finals. However, they still had a lot of fun and were appreciative of the opportunity to play against some of the best in their age group.

Students, parents and community members have enjoyed the various end of sport season dinners which have been taking place over the past week. I had the privilege of attending the inaugural Touch Football dinner last night and presenting awards with the Assistant Head of Sport, Mr Graham Nes. A huge thank you to all our Directors of Sport for their commitment and energy this summer season.

The Cross Country Carnival went well today and all students completed the 3km course, finishing with a delicious BBQ in perfect conditions!
