It’s Week 2 already and the students are really starting to settle back into school life.

Secondary School Swimming Carnival

Tuesday’s Swimming Carnival was a fun community day for the students in the Secondary School. The students got into the spirit of things, chanted and cheered their House peers down the pool and supported each other, regardless of swimming ability. The teacher vs student relay was well attended this year! Our students generously afforded the teachers some race ‘provisions’ by waiting for them before starting, swimming butterfly instead of freestyle and generally lolling about in the water while the teachers caught up. Ultimately the students won the race, but did so with good humour and humility. One of my favourite elements of the day were the sharks who made their way around chatting to people, doing the macarena, with one even winning an award. Such talent, in and out of the pool!

Academic Achievement and Growth Assembly

On Wednesday we held our 2023 Celebration of Academic Achievement and Growth Assembly.  It was wonderful to see so many of our past students arrive looking relaxed and ready to take on the world.

We not only celebrated those students who achieved exceptionally well in the HSC & IB pathways, but we also celebrated the students who showed the most growth from Year 10 to the end of Year 12.

At this Assembly we heard from Sabrina Blasco, Briar Carter and Jamison Houchell, who shared their reflections on their last two years at Redlands with our current senior students.  Their speeches were heartfelt and genuine. I know that our current students would have taken a great deal of inspiration from hearing them share their stories, reflections and memories.

Year 7 Parent/Carer Meet & Greet

We are holding our Year 7 Meet & Greet on Monday 26 February from 5.00pm to 6.30pm in the Fahl Garden. The purpose of the evening is to enable our Year 7 parents and carers to meet our Teachers, Tutors and Year Advisors in an informal setting so you can begin to establish those connections that we see as so important in developing a productive partnership between home and school. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet other Year 7 parents. Students do not attend this evening, as it is an adults only event.

Please note that the Year 7 Meet and Greet Evening is not a formal Student Conferences Evening.  The ‘Meet & Greet’ provides an opportunity to make those initial connections with academic and pastoral care teachers who work closely with Year 7 students this year.  The individual progress of students in their different academic subject areas will be discussed at the Year 7 Student Conferences Evening, scheduled for Wednesday, 31 July (early Term 3).

Morning Drop Off

A friendly reminder to parents driving their child/ren to school in the morning to be mindful of the road rules when dropping students off at the Gerard Street back gate.  Please adhere to the road rules and do not double park, permit your child to get out of the car whilst at the traffic lights, or do an illegal U turn at the entrance to Gerard Street.  Child safety and appropriate modelling of responsible driving is necessary, and we appreciate your cooperation in this respect.

Emergency Lunch

If a student forgets their lunch, you are now able to order a basic meal through Flexischools up until 10.30am that morning.
