Senior Music Festival

The 2018 Senior Music Festival will be held tomorrow evening, Friday 22 June at The Concourse in Chatswood. For the past two terms our musicians have been busy preparing and rehearsing for this event; I have enjoyed dropping by rehearsals before or after school to get a sneak peak of what lies ahead. Music, as well as our other creative arts, helps to teach students the importance of practice, teamwork and patience while also allowing students to further develop their creativity and passion. I am proud to be a part of a school that places such a tremendous value on music and the creative arts and look forward to hearing and seeing many of our students performing tomorrow evening.

World Cup Fever

World Cup fever has certainly hit Redlands this week starting with the 3v3 Futsal Competition. Over the last two weeks of this term, boys’ and girls’ teams will be competing in hotly contested 3v3 Futsal matches turning the Lang Gym into a cauldron of Football fever, especially yesterday when the men’s and women’s teacher teams competed, as well. All money raised from team entry fees goes to Breast Cancer Network Australia.

In addition, next week there will be a sausage sizzle and mufti day on Thursday 28 June organised by the Class of 2018. Students will be allowed to wear the colours or Football jerseys of the World Cup team they are supporting with a gold coin donation. All proceeds will go to the Class of 2018 Legacy Gift.

House Athletics Carnival

Next Tuesday 26 June is our House Athletics Carnival at SOPAC. While for some of the more competitive athletes, this Carnival will be the first step in their participation for our Athletics team and hopefully future representation at ISA or other levels, for many other students this day will be an opportunity for them to complete for their Houses in the spirit of participation and enjoyment. I am hoping to see (and hear) a tremendous amount of House spirit on display, as well. Specific information about the Carnival has already been sent home and can also be found on Redlands Pulse.

Pink Sock Round

Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather this week, the sporting grounds at Macquarie University are closed on Saturday, and we have had to cancel our Redlands@Home Pink Sock Charity Sports Round in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia. Some sports have been able to relocate their matches to other venues and students are still encouraged to wear their pink socks to all games this weekend. (Please check Redlands Pulse to find updated match times and venues.) Students and parents are still welcome to bring baked goods to venues to share with the community and collection tins will still be made available at these locations. A BBQ lunch will be held on the Senior Campus on Monday 25 June in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia. Students are encouraged to bring money to purchase food on this day.
