COVID 19 Guidelines

NSW Health continues to urge people who have been in Victoria since 12 May to check the Victoria Department of Health and Human Services website regularly to see if they have visited any of these venues of concern, and if so, immediately follow the relevant public health advice. If you attended any of the venues identified at the times listed, please contact NSW Health immediately on 1800 943 553.

With the recent developments in Victoria, it is important that schools in NSW continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines set out by NSW Health. In particular we wish to highlight the following:

  • Students should not attend school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms should be sent home and should not return until they have received a negative test result and are symptom-free. In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms a letter from their GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.
  • Anyone who is unwell with COVID-19 symptoms is strongly encouraged to get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received.
  • Personal hygiene, physical distancing, cleaning will be maintained to the highest level.
  • Where possible to use outdoor areas (weather permitting) or large open spaces to gather.
  • All visitors to a school site must be well and symptom free, comply with our sign-in arrangements at Reception and maintain a physical distance of 1.5m
  • Avoid congestion of groups of visitors in specific areas where possible.
  • All visitors to school must comply with our sign-in arrangements for each visit, and check in using the Service NSW QR Code. This should include an acknowledgement that they comply with the requirements for visitors, contractors and service providers. Parents and carers who are dropping off or picking up students do not need to sign in or use the Service NSW QR code.
  • On arrival at school, students to use hand sanitiser and after exiting or entering each room.

Prep School esafety Webinar

This week Yasmin London from ysafe, a specialist in the field of cyber safety and social media education presented at the Prep Parent Cyber Safety Webinar. Yasmin walked our parents through what we all need to know when it comes to supporting students digital safety and well being. She shared practical advice and helpful tips to assist parents in navigating their children’s first digital experiences. Yasmin then went on to share the navigational process of the Redlands cybersafety hub which can be accessed at  www.redlands.cybersafetyhub.com.au. It certainly is a very fluid space and to have a specialist walk us through the latest information relating to apps and games for our young learners was so helpful.

Welcome Back Parent Helpers

I am so excited to welcome parent helpers back into our classrooms starting from Term 3, Week 2. It has been a long time coming but our staff and students are desperately wanting to reconnect with our families. The staff are currently working out exactly how many volunteers they will need and what they will be used for. Volunteering and spending time in the classrooms is such a unique way to connect with your child’s learning and to help the teachers in providing an extra set of hands and ears! I know from my own experience, not all parents can volunteer during the day due to work commitments but please be assured that I am always looking for other ways where we can connect.

Term 3 volunteering can take the form of listening to children read, supervise a small group game in reading groups, assist in changing of books and many other ways. Please note that volunteering does not mean you will be listening to or only working with your child, it may be in other classes as well. If you would like to volunteer in your Year Group, please email your Grade Coordinator who will collect all names and coordinate the volunteers with their team. When emailing please outline which day would suit you (Mon-Fri). The hours of volunteering will be between 8.30am-10.30am each day (Reading groups and Maths time across the Prep School).

On Wednesday 16 June at 8.30am, we will be conducting a Parent Helper Information Session where we will outline our expectations and guidelines to our parent volunteer process and also demonstrate some of the activities that will be asked of you. This session will provide a time for us to answer any questions that you will have as well. An email invitation will also be sent shortly.
