PREP SCHOOL UPCOMING EVENTS
Walk Safely to School Day – Friday 14 May
Walking is the first thing an infant wants to do and the last thing an old person wants to give up. Walking is the exercise that does not need a gym. It is the prescription without medicine, the weight control without diet, and the cosmetic that can’t be found in a chemist. It is the tranquilliser without a pill, the therapy without a Psychoanalyst, and the holiday that does not cost a penny. What’s more, it does not pollute, consumes few natural resources and is highly efficient. Walking is convenient, it needs no special equipment, is self-regulating and inherently safe. Walking is as natural as breathing – written by John Butcher – Founder Walk21
Now in its 22nd year, this important day is supported by Redlands and we are so excited to see students walking to school tomorrow (if they can) and enjoying chatting along the way! I believe that some of our students and families are using a ‘walking train’ through their streets. If this is happening in your area, please take some photos to share with us.
For more information on this exciting event, how you can participate, walking road safety recommendations or hosting your child a healthy breakfast for their big walk, please read on here.
Belinda Oxley Scholarship Luncheon
There is only two weeks ago until this event!
Last week we were excited to announce the winners of the Design A Card competition in our Prep Assembly. Dana Casimaty presented our Prep winners with a paint set that they can use for future art pieces. We are now delighted to announce that the cards can be pre-purchased here and will be distributed after Wednesday 26 May.
The online auction with wonderful prizes such as holiday accommodation, children activities and camps and incredible artwork is open now and will close on Wednesday 26 May at 2.30pm. Proceeds from these initiatives will be dedicated towards the Belinda Oxley Scholarship, the means-tested scholarship which is to be awarded to an exceptionally talented Yr 7 2023 student for the entire Secondary Schooling.
OOSH News
Our OOSH team has been working incredibly hard to revamp our OOSH room as well as encourage student agency as often as they can. At this stage OOSH is completely booked out on Wednesday and Thursdays and there also exists quite a substantial wait list for these days. Please be aware of this if you are calling or emailing on these days, as your child will be placed on the waitlist.
Kindergarten
Looking forward to sharing some photos of our inquiry session coming up next!
Kindergarten Bush School
Yr 1
Yr One have been observing changes in foods when they are heated and cooled. One Blue had a wonderful opportunity to use our senses of sight, smell and touch to observe popcorn before and after popping. It smelt so good, we wished we could have eaten it, but we know that we don’t taste Science experiments.
