Seesaw
We have had a number of queries about student Seesaw account access from home and login details expiring. During Remote Learning students were given a unique Home Learning Code to access Seesaw from home. With the return to school, Seesaw home access for students is no longer required. All parents and carers are able to connect with their child’s Seesaw journal through the Seesaw Family app using the family login details. Parents and carers are able to use the Seesaw Family app to access any materials teachers share for Home Learning and any work students upload to their Journals. It is important to check that you are logged into Seesaw via the Family app. If you are logged into a student account, you may be prompted to update your child’s login details or see a message indicating that your child’s login details for Seesaw have expired. To restore your Family access, login to the Family app with your Family login details.
Allister Street Drop Off Zone
The Prep car line is moving well in the mornings and afternoons and I thank everyone who makes positive choices to keep our Redlands children safe. Can I please remind our Prep parents that if you drop your child off in Allister Street itself, please do not park and walk your child to the gate as this does create an issue with the drop off and pick up zone. From next week, there will be an extra staff member out on duty to open car doors and help students out of cars. If there is a specific reason why a parent has to walk their child to the doors, please park in surrounding streets and walk in. We thank you again for your understanding.

Staffing Update
Sadly, Hilary Luck will be leaving at the end of Term 3 after seven years at Redlands as our Assistant Coordinator of Music and MIC of Bands. Hilary has accepted the role as Head of Junior School Music at Abbotsleigh. During her time here, Hilary has made remarkable contributions to the Junior School Music programs and the Music education of many young students. She has also overseen a number of major musical productions and festivals and helped grow the various musical ensembles significantly. Hilary will be missed by staff, families and students alike. We wish her the very best.
Vodcast
This week’s Vodcast centres around Number Talks. Mrs Fiona Rugg presents a short clip on the language used to demonstrate thinking in numeracy activities and also provides a short example of how to encourage this language outside of the classroom. Please click here to watch all our Redlands vodcasts.
Numeracy Board
Our ‘Let Your Shine Board’ in the Prep School has been overflowing with everything numeracy the last two weeks. From Transition to Yr 2, our learners have demonstrated through pictures and display, the beauty of the process of learning. At Redlands we celebrate the process a student navigates through to not only master a skill but how to adapt this skill to solve many different real-life situations. For example it is one thing to colour in a half a circle in a text book or on a worksheet but it is another thing when a learner can identify half of a group of items to share, or be able to cut a piece of paper in half and know what that means or even to ‘go halves’ when sharing something at home or school.
Next week our Prep board will have a focus on writing. We will celebrate examples of informative and imaginative texts and even some persuasive texts from our young authors. Again, we are going to showcase not the polished end result, but the process of learning to produce a piece of writing that reflects the structure practised. It will be lovely to share the different mediums our writers can share their learning as well. Writing does not always have to be presented on a piece of paper. I look forward to sharing these samples with you.
Happy Father’s Day
From all of us in the Prep School, we would like to wish all our fathers a very peaceful and fun filled Father’s Day on Sunday. We also extend these wishes to all the uncles, brothers, grandads and other significant male role models who will enjoy family time on Sunday. I am sure there are some very cute and gorgeous Prep items coming your way.
