2024 Remembrance Day

Year 1 Student Reflection

This year PreK-6 students gathered on the oval at 11am to show their respect to fallen soldiers in past wars and conflicts. Mr Holden shared what the symbolic meaning of the red poppies meant while Mrs Breckenridge read the ode. We then stood in silence for a minute and thought about all the soldiers who died and we were truly grateful for all the sacrifices they made so that we can live in our free country today. I really hope that no more soldiers have to go to war anymore.

Year 2 STEAM Day

Year 2 students participated in the Cardboard Challenge this week under the guidance of Mr Price and Mrs Anagnostu. A selection of students collaborated with students from Shore and Loreto Kirribilli to create solutions to issues our local gardens might face. Have you ever wondered how we can keep bat poo off our balconies and backyards? The students designed and built prototypes to try and solve this problem and many others that could preserve our parks and native wildlife. The rest of the students were inspired by a video Caine’s Arcade. Their task was to work together to create an arcade style game using only cardboard and recycled resources. No iPads or electricity were allowed! They came up with some amazing ideas and designs and were able to build games that not only looked great but were also able to be played by other students. All the students should be proud of the creative ideas they produced and the way that they worked together in their teams to solve problems. Well done, Year 2!

Christmas at Redlands

A message from Fiona McKenzie, Junior Campus Chaplain

This year at Redlands we are going to be having several opportunities to share in the joy of Christmas.

Junior Campus Carols and A Touch of Christmas Mufti Day

Junior Campus Carols for students K – 6 will be held on Tuesday 26 November in Dunnet Hall at 9am.

To celebrate and have a final fund raise to support Wayside Chapel Christmas appeal students are invited to wear “a touch” of Christmas to our Carol service and bring a donation for collection. They can wear a hat, some tinsel, a head band or bracelets, anything that has a Christmas colour.

Help Redlands Junior Campus achieve the goal set by our Junior School Captains of raising the most funds in a year by a school for the important work of Wayside Chapel.

Please note that Junior School students need to be able to change into their full school uniform at lunch ready for their special sports award ceremony in the afternoon.

Anglicare Toy’s ‘n’ Tucker

Another opportunity to give is our annual Toy’s ‘n’ Tucker giving for Anglicare. Bring your gifts to one of the receptions by Monday 2 December. Gift ideas can be found here.

Redlands Community Carols

Families are invited to join in Community Carols at St Peter’s Church on Sunday 1 December. We look forward to seeing you there.
