Head of Preparatory School

Head of Preparatory School

As Term 2 draws to a close I would like to thank our Preparatory School community for your continued support, enthusiasm and encouragement of our students and our staff. This community support and engagement is so very important in building and maintaining the special culture that we enjoy every day. A big thank you Ms Wales, Mrs Mast and Mrs Thomas who have come in every week to take lunchtime Wellbeing Clubs. The children have loved your art and story reading. The time that you have so generously given us is very much appreciated.

I know you all join me is thanking our teachers for yet another term of engaging learning. The key to early years as we always say, is to build strong foundations as this leads to courageous inquirers who look for connections in learning as well embracing new skills and knowledge.

After reading the K-2 reports last week, I am so excited for our families to read about their children and to see the progress made so far this year while being guided as to their next steps in their learning. As Mrs Anagnostu shared in her parent webinar, reports are to be viewed as a snapshot in time and provide families with a guide as to where children are at in their learning but more importantly, what will the next steps be for children as the year progresses. I encourage parents to come to our Term 3, Week 2 Learning Conversations with questions based on this report and also based on next steps so that an understanding of progression is shared and understood.

As I wrap up our last Note Day for the term, I wish everyone a safe and restful holiday period and we look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 23 July.

William Senior will be taking over the role until the end of the year. Many of you will know William as he is a current Redlands coach and OOSH educator.

Year 12 Legacy Gift

A Message from Jenni De Jager
Development & Community Engagement Coordinator

It has been an exciting journey this year with the Year 12 Legacy Gift team working through philanthropic ideas and initiatives and how they would like to be remembered as a cohort. This wonderful student led initiative is focusing on the importance of ‘Giving Back’ to the School.  Funds raised will be contributed to the sixth Redlands Means Tested Scholarship named after Coralie Amos OAM Redlander Class of 1964.

Join Year 12 Students in their Efforts

Students are inviting the entire Redlands community to support them in their philanthropic efforts. They greatly appreciate your support as they come to the end of their Redlands journey by purchasing one, or more, of our special commemorative 2024 drink bottles, Redlands Rhino key chains and greeting cards, or contribute a tax-deductible donation directly to the Coralie Amos OAM Scholarship.

If you make a purchase, products will be available next Term (July/August) either delivered to your child’s class/tutor or by post for an additional charge.

Calling all Artists and Creative Minds!

The Prep School will be supporting the Festival of Redlands on 19 October by producing spectacular artworks that will be auctioned off on the day. To assist us do this, we are putting the call out to any parents or friends who may be able to help us with our class creations. At this early stage of planning, we are hoping to create the class artworks at the start of the term on a Prep ‘art afternoon’.

If you or someone you know might be able to help us with ideas, resources or the actual creation of these pieces, please let me know via email. Thanking everyone in advance.
