Head of Preparatory School
Please note that all Upcoming Events for Prep are now on their own Note Day article/page.
This Head of Preparatory School page will consist of general information from the Head of Preparatory School.
Mufti Day Tomorrow
With the current devastating effects of unprecedented bushfires in NSW and Queensland, the School will be holding a Mufti Day this Friday 15 November with students and teachers encouraged to support our rural fire services and affected families through donations. I know that the fires have impacted relatives of those within our Redlands community. Thank you for joining me in keeping these people and so many others in your thoughts in these coming days and weeks. As with all Mufti Days, please adhere to the dress requirements of closed-in shoes and sun safe clothing.
Exporting Content on Seesaw
We hope that you have enjoyed seeing your child’s learning on Seesaw throughout their time in the Preparatory School. For any student who is leaving the Preparatory School this year and all Yr 2 students progressing to Yr 3, we will be archiving your child’s activity on Seesaw from January 2020. After this time these families will no longer be able to view any activity. If you would like to keep a copy of your child’s work that has been shared on Seesaw you can download and save it to a personal computer. Instructions on how to download student content has been written on Redlands Pulse. All students in Kindergarten and Yr 1 who are continuing at Redlands will continue to see their learning on Seesaw, you do not need to save anything yet.
Prep Presentation Day
The Trybooking system for the Prep Presentation Day is now accessible and will remain open until Sunday 24 November at 9.00pm, after which time no bookings can be made. More details can be found in Upcoming Events.
Yr 2 Orientation Day
Yr 2 enjoyed a delightful visit to the Junior School last Friday as part of their transition into Yr 3. Time was spent in the Yr 3 classrooms meeting teachers, specialist staff and orientating themselves with their environment for 2020. Thank you to Mrs Sharp and Mr Latimer for their organisation.
On Monday this week, all Yr 2 parents were emailed a detailed letter from Mrs Sharp providing parents with an overview of the strategies in place to support the students’ transition to the Junior School next year. Some of these strategies relate to changes to pick-up arrangements and uniform for PE lessons. Please read the letter carefully as these will come into effect from next week, Monday 18 November. Please speak directly to your class teacher or Mrs Sharp if you have any questions.
Stationery List Information
All parents/carers of Preparatory 2020 students should now have received an email providing information on the process of ordering books and stationery for the 2020 school year. Orders are to be made online at www.campion.com.au using the code 2SNV and should be placed before Thursday 5 December 2019 to ensure delivery the week ending Friday 17 January 2020. Please note: families who are overseas during January and unable to receive their parcel are permitted to enter the School’s address for delivery: Redlands Preparatory School, 2 Allister Street, Cremorne, 2090.
Vacation Care December/January
If you would like your child to attend the December/January Vacation Care program, please visit Flexischools and make a booking using the Prep and Junior Vacation Care icon. All calendars, information pertaining to activities and requirements can be found on the FlexiSchools website and Redlands Pulse. Please contact the OOSH coordinator, Trinetta Newbond, with any Vacation Care or After School Care queries.
Lucy Hill Library
As the end of year draws near, it is time to retrieve all library books, account for them and tidy the shelves. This process takes time and with this in mind we are concluding student and parent borrowing on Monday 18 November. All books will be due back by Thursday 21 November. As we reconcile our inventory in the Library over the Christmas break there will be no parent borrowing during this time.
K-6 Strings Concert
Congratulations to all the students who took part in the Strings Concert last Monday. Unfortunately I was unable to attend however I am told that the Yr 2 students and the Preparatory School String Ensemble performed beautifully. Preparatory students thoroughly enjoy watching the Junior School students perform and seeing the possibilities should they continue to learn their string instruments. Thank you to all of the Music staff who have so skilfully prepared the students organised and hosted such a wonderful concert.
