Head of Preparatory School

There is a wonderful sense of vibrancy and energy this week in the Prep School. We warmly welcome everyone back and we look forward to meeting all our new Redlands families who have joined us this term. It has been a positive start for all our students as they settled smoothly back into their daily school routines.

Today I enjoyed spending time outdoors and having lunch with some of our Prep students who told me they were so excited to be back at Redlands – “seeing my friends” and “eating lunch together” were a few highlights of the week. Lunch time provides an opportunity for our children to gather outdoors, make social connections, converse, enjoy eating nutritious food, playing and having fun, whilst surrounded by their peers.

As we are now halfway through the year, I continue to be inspired by our Prep students who are learning to step up and ‘have a go’ as they embrace new challenges both in and out of the classroom.

This week I have been working closely with our dedicated P-2 teachers who provide consistent, enriching learning opportunities for our students. I have observed our Prep students as they find real moments of surprise and the delight of discovery as they collaborate and learn with each other. This is combined with time throughout the day to find contemplative, quiet spaces to read, write, construct, think, imagine or wonder. It is all happening in the Prep School and we look forward to seeing Mrs Breckenridge when she returns to school next week.

Redlands Cup and Interschool Race Week

Congratulations to our Prep students who competed in the Redlands Cup on 9 July in Thredbo. Redlands Cup is an introduction into the exciting world of Snowsports racing with training taking place prior to the event.

Jemima Joyce and Saskia Williams from Kindy along with Annabel Grinham and Jonathan Burton from Year 1 competed in the Redlands Cup. The conditions were difficult with strong winds and icy slopes but our Prep students took on the challenge.

Well done to Annabel, Jemima and Saskia who came second in the Division 6 Alpine GS Girls team event.
