Head of Preparatory School
Happy Easter

I wish all our Redlands House and Prep families a happy Easter and a restful break. I am so grateful for this term and all it has produced and provided us as a community of educators and learners. From the first day of school smiles to the joy that International Day brought us this week, the centre has always been the child. I am so proud of our community as we work together in and through any situation to ensure that our students are our number one priority. At times this can be a tricky road to navigate, especially when there have been friendship issues or when perspective is at times hard to find, but every conversation or action taken is always about what is best for the children in our care. Thank you to all our families and carers who are on this journey with us.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parent volunteers who have come into classrooms this term to help with various activities. It has been incredibly helpful, and the staff are so grateful for your time and enthusiasm. Thank you.
If you would like to volunteer to spend time in the classroom, please email your teacher directly.
Term 2 commences on Wednesday 26 April. Students are to return to school wearing their winter uniform. Please refer to the Student Diary for the winter uniform requirements. Can I please stress that every piece of clothing and property is labelled for a quick return.
I encourage all families to please take a moment to look at the Pulse calendar to familiarise yourselves with key dates for Term 2. We have some interesting talks and workshops next term, and it would be a shame to miss out.
International Day
The spotlight shone brightly on Redlands Prep on Tuesday as we celebrated and explored the cultural diversity that exists at Redlands. International Day began with a Bollywood concert where Mr Corcoran and Ms Partington showcased their dance skills along with staff. This set a positive tone for our students as they moved into rotating art and craft activities from the USA, Latin America, India, European and Asia. Our students were so lucky to learn and experience so many different things on Tuesday. Learning about other countries and participating in different cultural activities was an incredible opportunity for them to appreciate the diversity of cultures and respect all our differences.
The fun didn’t stop there. At lunchtime we were treated to a huge choice of delicious food made by our families. I was so thrilled to watch our students having a go and trying new things and enjoying the taste of new foods.
We were thrilled by the excitement of the Brazilian dance group and the graceful beauty of the Chinese dancers to finish our day.
Thank you does not seem enough to say to all our families who helped plan and contribute to the success of the day. By having so many of you involved provided the opportunity for a truly authentic experience for our children. How grateful we all are that we can come together and celebrate diversity in a respectful way. To thank you all, we would like to invite all the helpers to a Prep Thank You Assembly on Tuesday 2 May at 2pm. More information will follow but please save the date!
Yr 2 Strings Concert
A message from Ms Moses, Head of Junior Campus Music
Year 2 Strings students impressed their parents and guests in our open lessons on Monday. Showing off tunes like The DAD Song, Rock on A and Jig, beginner students were able to share their new skills on violin and cello, whilst the Rainbow Strings performed a number of pieces as a small Chamber Group. A big shout out to all our Strings tutors who have harnessed the wonderful energy and enthusiasm of our learners, and we look forward to seeing our students grow as musicians.
