Sustainability in Prep
The current Redlands Strategic Plan has sustainability as one of the driving key pillars. In Prep, our very own Carty Haverhals, is working hard to embed sustainability into our learning and workplace experiences. Currently our students are spending time with David Harrington, an ethnobotanist, to learn about the amazing world of what grows and lives in our own gardens. It is never too early to develop an understanding of the importance that sustainability plays in our lives. I am very proud of the way the Prep students are embracing sustainability by taking action. I encourage you to talk to your child about ways they can take action at home.
Our Yr 2 Sustainability Captains are now visible in the playground, we have gardening and bug adventure lunchtime clubs, and in addition, our Prep students are making use of their food scraps by feeding our worm farm.

K-6 Sleep and Healthy Routines Discussion
DATE: Tuesday 28 February 2023 (Week 5)
TIME: 8:30am-9:30am
LOCATION: Junior School Arnold Library
All of us need regular, high-quality sleep, and helping your child get a good night’s sleep can enhance both their general functioning during the day, and their mental health and well-being. The establishment and development of healthy routines is without a doubt a critical aspect to help parents prepare their child for a sound sleep. The Junior School Counselling team is excited to welcome parents and caregivers to the Junior School Arnold Library to attend a topic talk on Sleep and Healthy Routines, where we will focus on the following items:
- The importance of sleep and its connection to brain and mood
- Common difficulties: nightmares, digital media, separation
- How to create and implement healthy routines
To register, please fill out the following form.
If you have any general questions you’d like us to address, please fill out this anonymous voluntary form.
Thank you and we very much look forward to seeing you at the Redlands Junior School.

Calling on Volunteers
Thank you to all the parents and carers who have emailed teachers regarding their willingness to volunteer this term. We have some book coverers already helping to get our new readers into the classroom.
Our aim is to have our volunteer network up and running by Week 6. Please ensure that you have your WWCC emailed to me by Friday 3 March. Your class teacher will be emailing volunteers directly with the classroom need. Thank you again for supporting the Prep School.
If you are wanting to volunteer for the Wellbeing Lunchtime Clubs, please be aware that it will be a weekly commitment for the term. You are welcome to volunteer for one or all lunchtimes! Email Ms Fiebiger directly for more details at nfiebiger@redlands.nsw.edu.au

A Message from the School Chaplains
We enjoyed joining together to pray with parents and staff earlier this week at our Redlands Community Prayer Gathering held at St Peter’s Cremorne. Our next meeting will be in March and all are warmly welcome to join us.
We have so much to be grateful for at the start of this new year and during Junior Campus Chapel this term we are spotlighting gratitude. We have created a Gratitude Gallery in each of the reception areas. Check out the students’ fabulous illustrations and some examples gratitude. On Valentine’s Day in the Senior Campus, we tried to ‘spread the love of Jesus’ and remind each student that they are uniquely valued and loved by handing out heart lollipops at each gate.
Each campus has launched their lunchtime Christian groups for the term with K-2 on Wednesday (TGIL), 3-6 on Friday (TGIF) and Monday (Lumos) for 7-12. We are looking forward to welcoming any interested students to these groups.
