Prep Camp Week

What a week it has been so far! Koori Kinnections started our week with authentic indigenous storytelling, traditional boat making skills and inspiring drama and dance activities for Kindy and Yr 1. Our Yr 2 students have thrived throughout the week with activities that have encouraged team building, negotiation skills and camp related fun! Friendship bracelets, rock painting, scavenger hunts, talent quests, just to name a few of the wonderful opportunities this week for everyone.

The Outdoor Education days have been nothing but a success. I am so proud of all our learners as they challenged themselves to bush walk, investigated sea animals, enjoyed kite making and participated enthusiastically in every activity that came their way.

As we have had so many varied opportunities this week for all our learners, I thought I would share some student reflective writing and the link to our collective shared space for photos from each grades experience.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who have made our inaugural camp week such a huge success.

Kindergarten Camp Week

It has been an exciting and adventure filled week for our Kindergarten students. Camp Week commenced with a story telling experience led by Aboriginal Leaders from Koori Kinnections. The children listened to the story of the Greedy Pelican and acted out the Sleeping Kangaroo

On Tuesday, Kindergarten went to Clifton Gardens where they participated in a range of activities designed to develop students’ teamwork, curiosity and thinking skills. Highlights included a sandcastle building challenge, kite building, scavenger hunt and touch tank experience. It was wonderful to observe the children venturing outside of their comfort zones. There were squeals of delight and bravery when Kindergarten students were offered to hold the sea hare.

Throughout the week the children have been engaging in a variety of rotational activities with peers across the cohort. Activities have included an obstacle course challenge, Indigenous puzzles, tower challenge and creating the echidna from the Dreamtime story The Echidna and the Shade Tree.

Rescheduling of Prep Games Day

All families would have received the communication from Mr Webber this week regarding the public holiday next Thursday. As we will not be at school on this day, the scheduled Prep Games Day will now happen in Term 4 on a date still to be decided.
