Wellbeing Lunchtime Activities

All our wellbeing lunchtime activities are now up and running and are a huge success. Our Years 2 and 6 leaders who help run these lunchtime clubs have done a tremendous job. Students are empowered to own the activities as well as be proud of what they are doing in them. The mentorship that is occurring as well is so beneficial for future growth and development of all the students involved.

The Children’s Book Council of Australia 2022 Book Week

August 20-26

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers and librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions, and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. At Redlands our Lucy Hill library will be bursting with activity and we are excited to be welcoming two visiting authors.

This year our Book Parade will be held on Friday 26 August, Grandparents and Special Friends Day. We are encouraging our children to come dressed in the theme of the book week Dreaming with eyes open. This theme can be interpreted as dressing up as something or someone that they dream about becoming. If you need some inspiration, have a look at our display in the Prep reception! It can be as simple as dreaming of becoming a fireman or a dancer in a circus to a world leader or dreaming of becoming a sporting star.

Even though the main parade will take place in the morning with grandparents, parents will be able to go into classrooms later in the afternoon to have look at their class dress ups on the day.

100 Days of Kindergarten

A very special milestone was achieved in Kindergarten last Thursday 28 July, 100 days of school had been accomplished! Kindergarten were delighted to be able to celebrate this with their peers. The children spent the day exploring the number 100. They made towers with 100 cups, created collections of 100 with counters, rice and Lego, went on a number scavenger hunt and created crowns. It was wonderful to hear the children reflect on their personal growth with each child recognising things that they can do after 100 days of school.

Jeans for Genes

Tomorrow our Redlands House and Prep students can wear mufti/jeans to school in support of Jeans for Genes Day. Students are to bring a gold coin donation please.

OOSH Vouchers

Please find below a message from Ana Nogueira, K-6 OSH Coordinator

As part of an incentive for the Before and After School care industry, NSW government released the $500 voucher to all children enrolled in a primary school. At Redlands OSH, many parents have already redeemed their voucher and used it towards After School or Vacation Care fees. Because the voucher is only available until December 2022, we are inviting you to send Ana Nogueira your voucher QR code so you can have this money available for whenever you would like to use it at OSH or any Vacation Care period. If by February 2023 you don’t use OSH, this amount will be credited to your school account. Please contact Ana via anogueira@redlands.nsw.edu.au.
