Preparatory Mufti Day – Wednesday 18 September
One of the Silent Auction prizes from the Gala Ball was Principal for the Day in Preparatory School. Emily Heller from 2P will be taking up her coveted prize on 16 September. As one of Emily’s initiatives, she would like to have a mufti day on Wednesday 18 September in support of the Conservation of Marine Life which has been a topic of interest throughout the year in Prep Assemblies. If you would like to participate, please bring in a gold coin donation and a reminder to please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
Sleep for Improved Health, Resilience and Academic Performance
The importance of a good night’s sleep is well established; however, over 30% of primary school children and 70% of teenagers are sleep deprived. This has significant consequences on many areas of their lives including learning and academic performance, as well as emotional and mental health.
You are invited to attend a parent workshop with Lisa Maltman, Director of The Sleep Connection. The aim of the evening is to share knowledge, practical strategies and tools to support sleep health. Ms Maltman recently addressed our Secondary School parents and was well received. This workshop will focus on building good sleep habits in our Preparatory and Junior School age groups. Parents will be given a questionnaire which will become a resource to support and guide family conversations at home.
The workshop will take place in the Arnold Library, Junior School, on Wednesday 18 September between 4.30–6.00pm. Please click here to register your attendance.
This workshop is provided by Redlands in support of student wellbeing. If you would like to know more about the presentation, or have any questions, please feel welcome to contact Ms Samantha Kourakis, Dean of Students. skourakis@redlands.nsw.edu.au
Chapels
The last of our student-led chapels for the year was held this week by Kindy Orange. It has been a lovely year of worshipping together and I thank Fiona McKenzie, class teachers and the students for making this a regular occurrence in our school calendar. The students have been so excited to have family members support and share in their Chapel services.

Clubs
A reminder that the last Clubs for Term 3 will be held on Wednesday 18 September. Clubs will not be held in Week 10.
Prep will once again be using the Trybooking system to organise the registration of your child’s Prep Club for Term 4. Prep Clubs are run by teachers on Wednesday afternoons from 3.00–4.00pm for Yrs 1 and 2 students only. They are designed to be an hour of fun activity and provide children with an opportunity to mix with students in a new group, made up of both year levels. If you would like your child to take part in the Clubs program this year, for which there is no additional cost, please refer to the letter being emailed to families in the coming days. All registrations will be made on a first in, first served basis and children are required to choose one club only for Term 4. Clubs will commence in Week 2 (Wednesday 23 October) and will finish in Week 7 (Wednesday 27 November).
Prep Games Day
We invite all families to join us for the annual Preparatory Games Day being held on Friday 27 September at 8.45am. All students from Kindergarten to Yr 2 will be involved in running and field events on the Junior Campus Oval. Students are all expected to wear their sports uniform, sunscreen and hat, with a full water bottle for hydration throughout the day. Parents may take their child home at the end of the Games Day which we expect will be at approximately 12.45pm. We do ask however, that you sign your child out with their teacher before leaving the School. Staff will be supervising any students remaining after Prep Games Day until the end of the day. After School Care will be operating as normal.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Aiden Schlederer for participating in the recent National Snowsports Competition. With some incredibly challenging blizzard-like conditions and strong competition he performed admirably.
