Yr 6 Preparation for Yr 7, 2021
As part of the phased preparation for the transition to Secondary School, Yr 6 students and parents took part in this week’s Zoom information session, hosted by our Head of Secondary School, Mr Sean Corcoran.
In talking to some of the students afterwards, they enjoyed hearing about the many opportunities that will be presented to them in their next phase of their schooling from Mr Corcoran, Secondary Dean of Students Mrs Carolyn Shaw, and two current Yr 7 students about their experiences in the transition. I was also able to share aspects of the preparatory work that is already well underway in the Junior School and will step up further next term in the final two terms of Yr 6.
Following on from the session, Yr 6 have been enjoying small group visits by class to the Senior Campus where they have been led on tours by our Registrar, Ms Carey. I joined one of the tours and it was delightful to see the group’s excitement in seeing new spaces that they might soon learn in as well as meet some Secondary School staff. The New Learning Hub was a highlight of the tour for many as they popped into a couple of classrooms and got a sense of learning in the Secondary School context.

Junior School Performing Arts Update
Most Junior School Ballet and Dance classes will continue via Zoom until the end of Term 2. Please note that the exceptions are Grade 4 Ballet (Tuesday only) and Grade 5 Ballet (Tuesday and Wednesday).
The NSW Government has recently announced that COVID-19 restrictions were lifting for indoor classes in Dance studios from Saturday 13 June. However, this requires very specific spatial and hygiene requirements and as such, most Junior School Ballet and Dance classes will remain online at this time.
Drama activities will also continue via Zoom and we hope to be able to resume face-to-face classes as close to the start of Term 3 as possible. Please find further details on Redlands Pulse.
