Head of Junior School

Thank you to the many parents and carers who made time to visit their children’s classes in recent the Gallery Walks. We very much value the opportunity to showcase the learning our students have undertaken across the term as well as the opportunity to strengthen our partnership with Redlands families.

Year 6 Gallery Walk

Our Year 6 students shared their learning through a showcase of their innovative solutions to natural disaster preparedness in our end of term Gallery Walk. Student’s solutions addressed natural disaster preparedness with a focus on safeguarding children’s rights during such events. Each group prepared a presentation, sharing their ideas with parents and classmates, and several groups had the opportunity to present their proposals to UNICEF Australia at their downtown headquarters.

Year 4 Gallery Walk

Year 4 students welcomed friends and family to their Gallery Walk, proudly showcasing a range of their learning experiences. Highlights included engaging maths challenges, interactive coding tasks with Spheros, and the sharing of their Geographical and English learning. Visitors also enjoyed viewing students’ artwork, which reflected their creativity and learning journey. It was a wonderful opportunity for Year 4 to share their progress and achievements in a fun and interactive way.

Year 3 Gallery Walk

Year 3 Gallery Walk saw family and friends join us in our classrooms for a morning of learning. Excitement filled the hallway as students prepared for the big Crack the Code challenge. Each class shared their Acknowledgement of Country, summarized English texts, and explained their maths learning this year. Parents and students teamed up to solve riddles and find a secret location using mapping and coordinate skills. It was wonderful to see students sharing their learning with their parents, and we thank everyone for joining us and embracing the challenge!

Year 5/6 Business Boot Camp

A team of enthusiastic students from Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a day at the MQ Incubator to get their first taste of entrepreneurialism. They moved through a process of ideation, prototyping and finally pitching their ideas for a Christmas Market Stall. This day long intensive was a precursor to Redlands latest cocurricular offering, Junior Bootcamp. The after school club will run throughout Term 4 with a real world Christmas Market experience at the end.

UNICEF

Thirteen of our Year 6 students recently had the opportunity to present their innovative solutions at a UNICEF event, focused on supporting children during natural disasters. After weeks of collaborative brainstorming, design, and prototyping, three groups from our school were chosen to pitch their ideas alongside students from other schools. Their projects – Life Jacket, Smartband and Buy-a-box – each tackled different child rights, including safety, health and the right to play in times of crisis. The event was not only a chance for our students to showcase their creativity but also to learn from others and receive valuable feedback. It was an inspiring and enriching day for all involved.
