Father’s Day

This week, our Junior School was filled with joy and laughter as we celebrated Father’s Day on campus. It was heartwarming to see our community come together, with fathers and father figures joining us on the playground and in classrooms. The opportunity to share these moments, from classroom activities to playground fun, truly highlighted the strong bonds that make our school community so special.

Year 3 Celebrate Premier’s Reading Challenge Milestone

This week our Year 3 students celebrated achieving their goal for each student to complete the 2024 Premier’s Reading Challenge. Every student in Year 3 reached their personal goal of reading 20 books to meet the collective reading total of 2,460 books!  Congratulations to all students who enjoyed watching a story come to life on the big screen in our Arnold Library from the comfort of their sleeping bags.  This doubled as an opportunity for students to practice rolling up their sleeping bags as they look forward to and prepare for camp next week.

Year 5 STEM Interschool Challenge Day

A group of our Year 5 students recently participated in an exciting STEM interschool challenge day.  They joined forces with students from Loreto Kirribilli and St Aloysius to delve into the fascinating world of machine learning and robot automation. Working in mixed teams, they explored ideas on how robots could solve real-world problems in a Smart City.

One creative project involved designing a robot to deliver medicines and perform check-ups in isolation wards. The robot was programmed to follow color-coded markers on hospital floors, ensuring accurate navigation. Students built a prototype to test their code and created a promotional video to explain how their robot would work in a real-world scenario. Congratulations to:  Morris Huang, Alex Polson, Zac Edwards, Jax Hulsbosch, Oscar Warburton, Arran Stewart, Ollie Whitelaw, Mia Howes, Asmi So, Alaina Rasiah, Madeleine Hogue, Eliana Ibrahim and Audrey Reynolds who participated in this inspiring day of innovation and collaboration.

Redlands Piano Competition

Last Friday, the Junior and Senior Piano competitions were hosted in Edwards Auditorium, adjudicated by concert pianist and composer Daniel Rojas. In this special event for auditioned Piano students, they were able to perform their pieces that they had practised and worked on for many months. The standard of music performance was very high, with the adjudicator finding each division very difficult to adjudicate!

Congratulations to all performers, and particularly Sienna Lepone, who was the overall winner for the Junior Piano Competition.
