Autumn Fair
After months of preparation, our Redlands Autumn Fair takes place this Saturday 18 March and it promises to be a fun-filled day of community spirit and entertainment.
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank and congratulate the Redlands Parents and Friends Association and their army of volunteer helpers, coupled with many of our Redlands staff, who have brought this major event to fruition. You can imagine the organisation involved at every level and it needs the community’s engagement and involvement to make this happen.
The fair is open to both the school and local community so do bring your family and friends and entry is free. As has been communicated, this is also a cash-free event so you will need to purchase wristbands (for unlimited rides only) or coupons to enjoy individual rides, games and food. Pre-purchase wristbands and coupons can be purchased here with pre-sales closing at 12pm this Friday 17 March. These orders can be collected from the Gerard Street Gate Coupon Counter.
Please also be reminded that dogs are not permitted on campus.
I look forward to seeing many of our families at the fair on Saturday.

We have been very proud of our Yr 3 and Yr 5 students who commenced NAPLAN assessments this week. Overall, our teachers and I have observed the students to be calm and focused as they have sat the assessments which conclude next Monday and Tuesday.
Yr 5 Camp – 21-24 March
We are really looking forward to our first Junior School camp of 2023 taking place next week as our Yr 5 group head to the Southern Highlands. Yr 5 families have received a second detailed letter this week outlining all of the key information and I am looking forward to joining the group during their time away. My thanks to the Yr 5 team, guided by Mr Brakell, for all of their preparatory administrative and pastoral work in the meticulous planning that has taken place and I look forward to also reporting back on the camp in next week’s Note Day.
Harmony Week
As part of Harmony Week, which is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings Australians together from all different backgrounds, students across our campus will be involved in some activities next week highlighting inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
On Monday, students are encouraged to wear a touch of orange and will enjoy a special music performance from Taikoz during the day. On Thursday, the canteen will also have a special for interested students of paella (chicken and vegetable) and churros which is on offer for all students and at no extra cost.
Yr 5 Leadership Day
Last Friday, our Year 5 cohort began their journey towards student leadership in Yr 6 with the first in a series of leadership-related activities they will be part of throughout the year. Led by an external facilitator, Cameron Brown, from Explore Discover Act, our students were inspired to explore the difference they could make for and with others, having great fun along the way. It was great to see the students collaborate in the challenges they were presented with and also share their own leadership values.
International Day: Tuesday 4 April
On Tuesday 4 April (Week 10), our school community will celebrate our global-mindedness and diversity through our annual International Day event. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up in either international dress or colours for the day and teachers will have a series of themed lessons during the day.
Parents are encouraged to connect with your child’s class teacher if you are able to present or share your own cultural backgrounds and experiences utilising the knowledge we have in our community and connecting home and school further. Teachers will also be in touch.
