Special Visitors

To complement Get Caught Reading Month, Yr 2 classes invited some very special guests to read to their students. Thank you to Mr Latimer, Mr Guha, Ms Francis, Mrs McPhillips and Yr 5 buddies from the Junior School, who gave their time to read and interact with Prep students. Getting to know the Junior School teachers and students is the beginning of the transition from Prep to Junior School. I know the Yr 2 students thoroughly enjoyed time increasing their literacy knowledge with the wider school community.

You Can Sit With Me

This Friday 1 June, Junior Campus will be joining together with their buddies at lunch time to observe You Can Sit With Me day. You Can Sit With Me reminds everyone in our school that we welcome anyone to sit with us regardless of interests, ability and age. We encourage all students to wear a touch of yellow on this day. If you are interested in buying a pencil or bag tag, please visit their website. All proceeds from the sale of items go to the Literacy and Numeracy Foundation.

Too Sick for School

As the colder weather approaches, so do many bugs and illnesses. It’s often hard to know whether to send your child to school or let them stay home to recover, especially when that means an adult needs to cancel work or alter a busy schedule.

Recently, some children have been sent to school unwell and have then presented as sick early in the school day. For safety’s sake and the wellbeing of other students and staff, if your child seems unwell please keep them home from school and if needed, seek medical advice.

Please ensure that your contact and emergency details are up to date so that we can contact you immediately, if necessary. Children often become even more distressed when they are sick and have to wait long periods of time before being collected.

Lost Property

There seems to be an accumulation of lost items in the Lost Property box outside the Prep Office. Please check the box if you have an item missing. To avoid items being misplaced, could you please make sure everything brought to school is clearly named. Thank you.

Girls’ Uniform Trial

As part of ongoing consultation with students and parents regarding the School uniform, we are trialling girls’ trousers this Winter, Terms 2 and 3. The School has recently sourced smaller sizes for Prep students. If you are interested in trousers for the Winter for your daughter, please visit the Uniform Shop. There are black socks available to purchase to wear with the navy trousers.

Yr 2 Camp Parent Information Session

Thank you to everyone who attended the Yr 2 Camp Information Session on Wednesday 30 May. If you were unable to attend the session, all information, including all questions and answers will be made available on the Yr 2 section of Redlands Pulse. A significant message overall from presenters was that if you have any concerns about the camp in September, to discuss these with the class teacher early, so any adjustments or awareness can be addressed accordingly.

New Learning Hub Appeal

Work is progressing well on the new state of the art educational facilities and open spaces on the Senior Campus which are due to be completed mid-2019. Thank you to those Early Childhood families who have kindly donated to secure a Family Plaque or made a donation towards the Building Fund (all donations are tax deductible). There is still some availability if you would like your family’s name on the Legacy Board which will be placed in the foyer of the New Learning Hub.  For more information please visit the website or contact Dana Casimaty, Director of Development, 9968 9858.
