K-6 Strings Concert
Congratulations to all the talented students who performed at the K-6 Strings Concert this week. It was lovely to see the enthusiasm that the Yr 2 students and the Preparatory School String Ensemble demonstrated. The improvement they have shown from the beginning of the year was evident as they played five songs from the Nursery Rhyme Medley. For the Preparatory students, it is always special for them to watch the Junior School students perform and see the possibilities if they continue to learn their string instruments. Thank you to the expertise and passion of Mr Michael Warby, Master of Strings, Mrs Hilary Luck, Junior Campus Music Coordinator, the Music tutors and all the Music staff who organised and hosted such a wonderful concert.
Yr 2 Orientation Day
Last Friday, Yr 2 enjoyed a delightful visit to the Junior School. They spent some time in the Yr 3 classrooms meeting teachers, specialist staff and orientating themselves with their environment for 2018. Thank you to Mrs Sharp and Mr Latimer for their organisation.
Prep Presentation Day Booking Information
The Preparatory students and staff have been actively organising the upcoming Presentation Day on Tuesday 4 December. To avoid the worry and stress associated with arriving at Dunnet Hall early in order to secure the perfect seats, we use a free, online booking system for seat allocation. You only need to book seats and no payment is required. To reserve your seats please go to: https://www.trybooking.com/ZDWS. It will close on Thursday 22 November at 4.00pm. No bookings can be made after this time. To ensure equity, the number of seats will be limited to two per family for this event.
Lucy Hill Library
The end of the year is drawing to a close and it is time to retrieve all Library books, account for them and tidy the shelves. As this always seems to take longer than anticipated, we are concluding student and parent borrowing on Monday 19 November. All books will then be due back by Thursday 22 November. Additionally, there will be no parent borrowing over the Christmas break, as we take this time to reconcile our inventory in the Library. Thank you for your patronage. We have been avid readers in the Preparatory School and Preschools as we have loaned over 30,000 books this year. Have a very “bookish” Christmas and enjoy your holidays!
Term 4 Clubs
Our Clubs program concludes on Wednesday 21 November. We hope the students have enjoyed the Clubs on offer this year.
Anglicare Christmas Appeal: Toys ‘n’ Tucker Campaign
Redlands Prep School will again turn its focus to ‘Letting our Light Shine’ by sharing the joy of Christmas with children in need in Sydney. We will be participating in Anglicare’s Toys ‘n’ Tucker Campaign. If you wish to participate please bring your gifts to the Prep School Reception and place them under the Christmas tree. Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect on God’s generous gift to people and on the joy, we can share by giving. While our focus in Prep School is the Anglicare collection, many families at Redlands also like to support our Secondary School collection for Matthew Talbot Homeless Shelter. Our Yr 11 students serve breakfast there every Monday and it is wonderful to be able to know that the people we meet each week will be the recipients of our gifts. If you would like to participate, please see the list of items below. There will be a box for items in both Prep and Junior School Receptions. Collections begin on Monday 12 November and conclude Tuesday 4 December.
