Prep Games Day

We invite all families to join us for the annual Preparatory Games Day being held on Friday 28 September. All students from Kindergarten to Yr 2 will be involved in running and field events on the Junior Campus oval. Students are all expected to wear their sports uniform; sunscreen and a hat are essential, as we are expecting warm weather. Parents may take their child home at the end of the Games Day. We do ask however, that you sign your child out at Prep Reception before leaving the School. Staff will be supervising any students remaining after Prep Games Day until the end of the day. After School Care will be operating as normal.

Swimming Program Yr 2

The Yr 2 students have had the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons at the Lane Cove Aquatic Centre this week. Utilising the skills of highly accredited swim specialists from the Aqua Bliss Association, students were taught a variety of stroke techniques and given assistance at their level of swimming ability. This four day program is not intended to replace any existing lessons that students regularly attend, rather enhance some skills and provide organisational practice as students learn to change, pack and follow instructions. Additionally, these skills will assist the students as they prepare for the Yr 2 Camp at the end of Term 3. When I visited the pool this week, I was most impressed with the level of coaching afforded to the students and the gains students made in only four intensive lessons.

Yr 2 Camp Reminders

As we make our final preparations for the Yr 2 Camp next week, please take note of the following:

  • All information you will need (equipment, what to pack in which bag etc) is in the detailed Camp Information letter, which is available on Redlands Pulse
  • All medication is to be brought to school on the morning we depart for camp, in a labelled zip lock bag. Instructions for administering the medication are to be inside the bag on the Short Term Medication Authority Form, which you can also download from Redlands Pulse
  • If you wish to have a conversation about the medical needs of your child, or the administration of medication whilst at Camp, this needs to take place with Mrs Simes prior to departure. Please make an appointment via earlychildhood@redlands.nsw.edu.au

Spring Fair

Thank you to the Spring Fair Committee who organised the selling and collection of pots last Wednesday. If you didn’t buy your pot through Trybookings, it will be available for purchase at the Plant Stall at the Spring Fair on Saturday. The Spring Fair has always been one of the school’s largest and most joyful events, and the preparations that have gone into this year’s fair will ensure that it is going to be a fantastic day. The day will include carnival games, rides, Bubble Soccer together with food, markets and prizes for the whole Redlands community. I look forward to seeing you there! Sorry, no dogs are permitted at the Fair.

Important Student Health and Safety Notice: Spring Fair

Parents are advised that there will be First Aid provided at the Spring Fair this coming Saturday, but our First Aid provider will not have access to medication or medical equipment held by the School for student use.

Therefore, it is essential that any student who requires an Epipen or any other medication brings this with them on the day.

Kids Cancer Project – Mufti Day

This Friday 14 September, our Junior Campus students are encouraged to donate a minimum gold coin donation to wear mufti clothes with ‘a touch of gold’ as we again support the research work of The Kids’ Cancer Project, a charity that holds particular significance for our Redlands community. The Early Childhood section of the School will not be participating in the buying of merchandise in the Junior School.
