It is inspiring to note what can be achieved when we collectively come together as a school community and support our students in important fundraising initiatives. Ari Abe-Apostolou’s (5R) personal video message encouraging us all to support the recent Jeans for Genes Day struck a powerful chord, with the current amount of funds raised totalling $8,894, the largest amount from any organisation. My thanks to all members of the community for your significant support.

Having joined in several Zoom sessions with staff and students this week, it further reinforced the resilience of our students and how they have continued to adapt to Remote Learning and how staff are continuing to explore creative ways to engage students in their learning. Highlights this week included Preparatory School students sharing artwork that they had completed at home, full of colour and unique perspective. Hearing students read confidently and present to their cohort in a new medium was but one example of how they have risen to the challenge.

With our Yr 12 Trial Examinations, starting next week, now happening online, I have been most impressed at how our staff have once again pivoted quickly to provide the best experience possible for students, which will support them with valuable feedback prior to their final examinations. In Zoom meetings this week we reinforced how proud we are of the Class of 2021, for the way they have worked through this period, having also been impacted during 2020 when in Yr 11. They remain focused on making the most of the opportunity and throughout have been looking out for each other and concerned for all students.

Our Sports Department created a wonderful opportunity for our Redlands community to enhance their fitness during this lockdown period with the Redlands Olympic Challenge that ended last weekend. Congratulations to the students and parents representing Roseby who claimed Gold with 9079km, reaching Tokyo last Friday at 7.19pm. Students and parents from Dumolo won Silver with 8737km, arriving at Tokyo last Saturday at 10.54am and those from McDouall won Bronze with 6242km, achieving 79% of the distance to Tokyo.

Continuing with the Olympic Games theme, the RPFA has continued to explore opportunities to bring the community together and following positive feedback last year, by popular demand, the Redlands Online Family Trivia Night will be held this Sunday from 5.30 – 7.00pm. Families can book HERE with more details available on the RFPA page of Note Day. Bookings close tomorrow evening, so please register now.

My thanks to all parents and carers for your ongoing support and encouragement during this time. Your messages and feedback are greatly appreciated.
