I enjoyed the opportunity on Tuesday evening through our Parent Webinar to provide an update to parents and carers on the feedback from our Redlands Community Survey, conducted during August and September this year. Thank you to all who participated in the survey; in total we received more than 500 responses from parents and carers, staff, alumni, directors, members and students.

Set out below are some common observations from the survey results:

  • The Redlands community is welcoming and inclusive;
  • The School’s Vision and our Motto of “Let your light shine” is strongly supported and while there is always room to improve, the community observes Redlands students aspire to that;
  • The depth and breadth of the Redlands cocurricular program is critical to providing the opportunities for students to explore their own pathways;
  • Balancing a desire for strong academic performance with an external environment that is challenging to the mental wellbeing of students and staff will likely be a key challenge for Redlands over the coming five years.

Looking ahead, the survey participants believed that the most important elements for success over the coming five year period are:

  • to focus even more on enabling and improving the individual holistic development and wellbeing of the students (Life-ready at every stage)
  • the academic development and success of students through our contemporary and innovative education practices (Academic and Agile)

In addition, a focus for the coming years will also be to refine Redlands own measurement and tracking of the short and long-term holistic success of our students. We have already made good progress in this area through our current Data Tracking project.

The feedback provided by the survey has proven invaluable in our strategic planning sessions and we are looking forward to finalising strategies and actions early in 2021. I will keep the community informed on our progress and the outcomes.
