Visit from New Principal, Mr Stephen Webber

It has been wonderful to have Redlands incoming Principal visiting the School this week. Stephen commences in the role in January but the chance for him to have a handover is an important aspect of his preparation. He and his wife Lynn are very much looking forward to moving from Perth to Sydney and joining the Redlands community.

Stephen’s program this week has involved individual briefing meetings with all the Redlands Executives, attendance as a guest at the October Board meeting, a full morning on each campus (during which he met with the campus leadership teams), lunches with the newly appointed Prefects and the current Junior Campus student leaders, a cocktail party at which he met with major donors, members of the RPFA Executive, and members of the Foundation Advisory Committee. Stephen and I observed the first Prefect led Assembly by the Class of 2020, and joined Year 11 in their weekly Chapel Service. While on the Junior Campus he visited classrooms, meeting teachers and chatting with some of our youngest students.

Stephen brings many skills and relevant experiences which he has had during his past nine years as the Headmaster of Guildford Grammar School. One of the most important experiences has been his leadership of this long-established school through the transition from single-sex to becoming a coeducational school; the first girls graduated this year. Getting to know Stephen this week has reinforced my belief that the Redlands Board has made an excellent choice as the new Principal of Redlands. I am sure that you will all be keen to welcome Stephen into the Redlands community.

This Friday and Saturday Stephen will be attending the annual Board and Executive Retreat, which will also be a really valuable opportunity to deepen his understanding of Redlands and for him to get to know the Directors and Executives and to contribute to the strategic discussions that form the agenda. I shall share more on the Retreat in next week’s Note Day.

RPFA AGM

I wanted to bring your attention to a very important meeting for our community – the Annual General Meeting for the RPFA next week on 4 November at 6.30pm in the Junior School Atrium. The RPFA Committee invites parents to attend to review their achievements this year, what they are planning for next year and have a look at the opportunities to get involved. The meeting is open to every parent in the school and anyone is welcome to join the committee. There are a number of positions open from members to officer bearers. The RPFA will also be discussing the opportunities to get involved in the Spring Fair next year. Small and large roles are available, so if you have a small amount of time or would like to get more involved, please put your hand up. The RPFA do an excellent job in building our Redlands community and we invite all parents to get involved in whatever way you can to make it even stronger. You can sign up to attend the AGM or get involved in the Spring Fair here:

Perspectives Survey

Thank you to all parents and carers who were able to respond to the Perspectives Survey held over the first two weeks of this term. The survey period has now closed, and the results are in the process of being collated and analysed by our external consultants.

We greatly appreciate the effort taken to provide us with feedback, and we expect to be able to share the key results with our community by the first quarter of 2020.

A reminder to all parents and carers that the Redlands website also provides all members of the community to provide feedback to the School, or to lodge a general enquiry, throughout the year.
