From the Principal
It has been good to see students back at school this week following what I hope was a relaxing Easter, with beautiful autumnal weather locally for those who stayed at home.
Sean Corcoran and I joined two of our student leaders at the ANZAC Dawn Service at Georges Heights with a large crowd of others, where our students laid a wreath. Two others similarly laid a wreath at the North Sydney ANZAC Service. The Secondary School held an ANZAC Memorial Service in Dunnet Hall on Tuesday.
Our Year 12 students are sitting half-yearly exams this week and next at North Sydney Leagues Club, so a number of our younger students had the opportunity to play roles at the Redlands ANZAC Service.
With the Winter Sports program commencing this weekend, I wish to advise parents whose children are playing their Winter home games at Macquarie University Playing Fields that there will be a reversion to paid parking at the Sports fields as part of a whole of campus change. Parents who are coming along to support their sons or daughters should read carefully the following:
Notice of Macquarie University Sport Field parking changes from 1 May 2019
In October last year, Macquarie University moved to a digital parking platform across the campus and at the same time, introduced paid parking for all Sport and Aquatic Centre users. As part of this change, paid parking will also be applied to the Sport Fields as the last stage in this strategy.
As of 1 May, all parking at the sport fields will attract a fee of $1.50 per hour.
Important meetings occurred during the two week vacation and I expect to be able to deliver news very soon as to the resumption of construction on the Senior Campus. There were many works tasks done over the break on both campuses by our Facilities team and other contractors, and it was wonderful to see the new playing field on the Junior Campus being used by the students. It looks a picture and provides a fine surface that will withstand use and weather.
