From the Principal

On Tuesday our Year 12 Captains ran their final Stage 4 (Years 7 and 8) student led assembly for the year. Our School Captains, Isaac and Jazz, reflected on how they remembered being Year 7 students not that long ago and looking up to the School Captains back in 2019, Chloe and Josiah, when they led assemblies – never imagining that one day they would follow in their footsteps.

Like many Year 12 students at this time of year, they shared how they cannot believe they only have a few weeks left of their time at Redlands and so wanted to share some of their reflections to students in Years 7 and 8.

  • Cherish your time at Redlands and make the most of all of the incredible opportunities given to you;
  • Move out of your comfort zones and “step beyond” to try new activities, forge new relationships and break through perceived limitations; and
  • Make the most of the amazing Redlands community and know that you are not alone on your schooling journey and have the support of classmates, teachers, friends and parents.

Recently, I have been reflecting back on my time in high school in the United States (yes, it was a long time ago), as members of our “varsity soccer” team (I am using the American term on purpose) have been sharing videos of our Year 12 season with each other and reminiscing about our special memories – our camaraderie off the field, a penalty shoot-out victory on the field and even the big “pep rally” before the grand final.

As our Year 12 students come to the end of their Redlands journey, I do hope that they will similarly look back fondly on their time at school and cherish these memories moving forward.

Father’s Day Celebration

There was a definite buzz in the air on Monday morning with our Father’s Day celebration in the Junior Campus piazza. I was delighted to join a large number of dads and special friends for coffee and breakfast before they had the opportunity to spend some quality time participating in classroom activities with their children.

Festival of Redlands, Saturday 19 October, 1-5pm, Junior Campus

Please join us as our whole community celebrates our 140th birthday, shining a light on 140 years of exceptional education at Redlands.

From 1-5pm, the Junior Campus will explore the past, present and future of our School with showcases in Performing Arts, Sports, Academics, Visual Arts, Innovative Design and Outdoor Education, along with an international food extravaganza and a Festival of Redlands House Challenge.

Tickets for this milestone event will go on sale next week.
