From the Principal

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the International Baccalaureate and we were delighted to celebrate this  milestone on our Senior Campus. This year is a dual celebration for our School as we also commemorate 30 years since the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme was introduced at Redlands. We are so proud to have offered this qualification longer than any other school in NSW.

I returned to School on Monday this week following a study trip to Britain and Hungary, which also included attending our very successful International Alumni Reunion in London. I will write more about my study trip in an upcoming edition of Note Day.

I wish to add my personal thanks to all of the parents who so generously volunteer their time to support the School in so many ways and it was wonderful that they could be recognised at our Volunteer Thank You function last week.

I also congratulate the finalists who were selected to perform at the Senior Instrumental Competition on Monday night, and especially recognise the following winners:

Division 1 (Years 7-8):     Jaida Gwilliam

Division 2 (Years 9-10):   Alex Kim, who was also awarded Overall Winner

Division 3 (Years 11-12):   Matilda Rose Williams

More details about this event can be found in the Music section of Note Day.

We look forward to celebrating World Teachers’ Day tomorrow, and we thank our RPFA Class and Year Parents (and our student body) for the thought and care that has gone into plans for tomorrow. We do appreciate the efforts and professionalism of our teachers, and all our staff, and we know that small acts of gratitude and recognition shown to individuals in a personal way means so very much to each of us. However, celebrating in a collective way on a day like World Teachers’ Day help to recognise the professionalism, expertise and commitment demonstrated by dedicated professionals. Why not spend a few minutes around the dinner table tonight reflecting on the impact that a teacher has made on your own lives?
