The RPFA AGM held last Thursday evening provided a wonderful opportunity to thank outgoing committee members for their wonderful support and the celebrate the contribution that the RPFA has made to the School in another extraordinary year. The fact that the RPFA has donated over $75,000 to the School this year in the circumstances is very impressive.

President Michelle Tea has led the RPFA with distinction during the last three years and her enthusiasm, drive and passionate support of the School has been greatly appreciated. I will be ever thankful for the way that Michelle assisted my transition into the School and for her wisdom and common-sense approach to all matters. JP Forrest was confirmed as the new President at the AGM and her strong commitment to so many aspects of the life of the School and generous spirit sets a wonderful example. I congratulate and thank all parents who were selected as RPFA committee members and particularly acknowledge the significant contribution of those stepping off the committee.

The full list of new Committee members can be found on the RPFA page.

You may have noticed a recent media article about a confirmed COVID-19 case at an Eastern Suburbs Independent School, which has led to that School being shut for a period. There have also been a number of other recent Independent School closures on the Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches. Feedback from other Principals has reinforced the importance of mask wearing and also student vaccination in these situations. A key reason is that if students are wearing masks (for all Year Groups) then it can impact whether they are deemed to be a close or casual contact, which determines the time they are required to isolate away from school. Whether students aged 12 and over are vaccinated is also taken into consideration in these circumstances.

Therefore, it is important for us to know the vaccination status of students and we thank those families who have provided the vaccination status of their children to the School. There is also an increasing necessity for older students to be fully vaccinated for them to participate in sport (as per the community sports guidelines) and gain entry to external venues, so it is important we have this information. We will be sending further communication to families who have not yet provided us with students’ vaccination status so that we can be best prepared for all eventualities moving forward.

The Year 12 IB examinations have been progressing well, with the students being kept in a separate cohort group and we know our Year 12HSC students are looking forward to getting their examinations underway next week. We are very proud of the way the Class of 2021 have approached the various challenges this year and we are with them in spirit and full support at this time.

School-Wide K-12 Parent/Carer Survey Closing this Sunday 7 November

I would like to remind those parents and carers of students in Kindergarten to Year 12 who have not yet completed our School-wide Perspectives Survey that the survey will remain open until this Sunday 7 November at 11pm. The survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and will help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. The survey can be completed via this link. Thank you to the parents and carers who have already shared their views.
