Innovative Design in the New Learning Hub
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Innovative Design area of the New Learning Hub. This space is buzzing with activity from Digital Technology and Textiles through to Laser Cutting and 3D printing using state of the art machinery.
Flexible learning spaces and shop window fronts allow students work to be displayed. Classrooms have sliding doors so they can be open and closed for larger or smaller groups. Surfaces are writable allowing students to write and record their processes and progress made. Furniture can be rearranged to provide a dynamic learning environment for both individual and collaborative learning.
“Students have opportunities to engage with new processes and be inspired by their peers’ work. This is encouraged by open learning spaces of transition and transparency, such as exhibition shop front windows for Textiles, IT and Design and Technology projects”. Alannah Nastase, Coordinator of Innovative Design.
Let Your Light Shine on Education
Thank you to all members of our community, parents, staff and Alumni who have already contributed towards the Class of 2020 Legacy Gift and supported this wonderful student-led initiative.
This cohort have decided to purchase a ping pong table to be situated in the green space around the New Learning Hub and to contribute funds to the means-tested Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund, continuing the legacy started by the Class of 2019.
Students have invited the entire Redlands community, including our Redlands Alumni and staff, to support them in their fundraising effort. If you wish to join the Yr 12 students in their efforts, please click here.
