Alumni Update
Enormous thanks to Redlander Dr Katie Zyner, Senior Research Officer at the Children’s Medical Research Institute who joined Dumolo House in support of Jeans for Genes Day, both behind the BBQ and as a guest presenter. Katie enjoyed her time at Redlands and is grateful for the teachers who supported her. She also talked about genetic research and the focus of the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
Katie explored different pathways to get to where she wanted to go, and after graduating Redlands in 2005 completed a Bachelor of Medical Sciences at the University of Sydney before finishing an Honours year with the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CRMI). After obtaining a PhD in Medicine, she followed her passion she became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cambridge in the UK.
Katie is now a Senior Scientist a CRMI in the Computational Systems Biology Group and is a Conjoint Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine & Health at Sydney University.
