Redlands Learning Hub – Celebrating Three Years Since its Opening
Last week I shared reflections about the Roof Top Garden. This week we look at the ground floor which is the home for Visual Arts and Innovative Design. Kathy Reid, Innovative Design Subject Coordinator, shared her reflection:
The Learning Hub has created a space for the Innovative Design team to think outside the box. The addition of a prototyping studio has allowed students to practice real world design practices such as CAD (computer aided designed) and CAM (computer aided manufacturing) as well as more traditional methods of design. Because the Innovative Design rooms are on the bottom floor and the rooms open onto the Fahl Garden we have the opportunity for students to move outside to test prototypes and final designs in a large open space. The students particularly enjoy the gallery walls in each room where exemplary examples of student work is regularly showcased.
Redlands Gala Ball – Early Bird Tickets Closing Soon
We are thrilled with the overwhelming support and interest in this year’s gala fundraising event Redlands Gala Ball with a gourmet three course dinner and drinks throughout the evening, live entertainment and dancing, auctions and raffles. As we are likely to sell out by the end of this term, secure your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
It’s easy to book, simply nominate your Year Group or guests you would like to be seated with, on tables of 10. This event has a limited capacity, please make sure you book your tickets early by clicking on the invitation below.
Proceeds from the Ball
All proceeds from this event will benefit the Redlands Foundation Scholarship Appeal. A means-tested scholarship named after Dr Sue Morey AM RL 1959 to honour her contributions to public health, will be awarded to a Year 7 student commencing in 2025.
Due to a generous support of our community – parents, alumni, staff and wider community – we currently have 3 Foundation scholars benefiting from Redlands education – Year 11, Year 8 and Year 7. The additional two scholarships have been awarded by our Principal Sean Corcoran to successful candidates commencing Year 7 in 2024. Means-tested scholarships are awarded to those students who demonstrate achievements across a number of fields – academic results, co-curricular involvement as well as service.
