Volunteering at Redlands has a Long History
Last Thursday, the Redlands Parents and Friends Association hosted the online AGM. The current president Michelle Tea shared with everyone what initiatives and projects were conducted this year with the objective to build a supportive community and create meaningful connections for Redlands families.
There are too many to be individually named, however we would especially like to highlight the online second hand uniform sale on a newly created digital platform (three times this year), the Trivia Night and numerous coffee catch ups organised by the PCGs. We greatly appreciate involvement of parents contributing to the advancement of the School in many different ways. The strength of the Redlands community has been appreciated this year, especially in lockdown contacting new families and making them feel welcome.
Parents support has a long history at Redlands. This year we are celebrating 61 years since the Parents and Friends Association was established. Redlands parents have played a very important role in the School’s development – volunteering across various areas of the School, organising the Redlands Spring Fair and supporting a broad range of fundraising efforts which contributed to strategic projects such as the Science Block (Roseby building), Redlands Hall, Lang Gym, High Country Campus, Fitness Centre, Redlands Learning Hub and also the means-tested Belinda Oxley scholarship.
I would like to thank sincerely the 2021 Committee for all their efforts and would like to wish the newly elected Committee a great year ahead. For full list of new Committee members, please see the RPFA page.
In addition, I would also like to acknowledge the Foundation Advisory Committee (Term 4 meeting is on Monday 8 November) and the Redlanders Alumni Association (AGM takes place on Thursday 18 November). I will provide more details about their activities in the following issues.
If you wish to learn more how to get involved, please contact me directly.
Opportunities for our Young Redlanders
Redlands commitment to our students does not end upon their graduation from the Secondary School. We warmly welcome our Redlanders back to campus to participate in Career and Mentoring Events, Year Group Reunions, and as speakers at wide variety of engagements.
We are also proud to offer different opportunities for employment, such as Sports coaches, Music and Drama tutors, and our Gap Year program in the Junior School.
There is an exciting opportunity for Science-based students to gain skills in a laboratory environment. A casual position for an Assistant Laboratory Technician has opened up and we are seeking alumni applicants who are engaged in related fields of study at university.
