Foundation
This year I had the privilege to work with the Yr 12 cohort again to identify and implement ideas to raise funds for their Legacy gift. When we first met in Term 1 for the team morning tea I was overwhelmed, not only by how many of them were interested but also by their passion and enthusiasm they showed towards this project.
During the process when I had numerous opportunities to get to know them, I was impressed by their strong determination, passion and team spirit to achieve their goals and also their care to leave something meaningful behind after they leave the school gates.
I would like to wish them all the best for their Trial Exams starting online next week.
Message from Yr 12 Students to our Redlands community
2021 has certainly been another year to remember! As a student cohort, we have built strength, determination and resilience. We are grateful for the supportive community of families, staff and Alumni that we are a part of. However long each of us has been connected to Redlands, our time has been memorable and equipped us well to head off into the world at the end of this year.
Our Gift, Our Legacy
To celebrate our time here, and thank the School for its support, encouragement and the opportunities offered to us as a Year Group, we are proud to announce the Class of 2021 Legacy Gift.
We have decided to contribute the funds raised to two significant initiatives – the means-tested Redlands Scholarship Fund and sustainability initiatives at Redlands.
Why we have chosen to support means-tested scholarships
The Redlands Scholarship Fund provides important support for many students who might not otherwise benefit from the excellent educational opportunities which we were offered. Using our Legacy Gift to help fellow young people gives us a great sense of pride. We know we are contributing to something that will make a lifelong difference. Importantly, this year’s Scholarship Appeal honours Ms Oxley, who many of us remember from our early years at Redlands.
Why we have chosen to support sustainable initiatives
Our cohort, conscious of our place in the world, understand the threats of our rapidly changing climate and habitat loss we see around us and we have a desire to act. For this reason, a portion of the Legacy Gift from Class of 2021 will be reserved for future sustainability and environmental initiatives at Redlands.
How you can support us in reaching our goal
From our Movie Night and Spirit Fair earlier this year, we have raised $3,200 and $15,200 respectively from direct donations to the Scholarship Fund. Our final fundraising activity before we enter exams this month, is a memorable Class of 2021 Redlands Tea Towel and Tote Bag designed by our cohort and selected staff. Each of us has contributed a drawing to represent ourselves creating a vibrant tapestry rich with the varied personalities of our cohort.
We now invite the entire Redlands community to support us in our final fundraising efforts. Please join us by purchasing one or more of our Class of 2021 portrait tea towels and tote bags, or contribute directly to the Scholarship Fund.
