Drama and Theatre
Yr 12
Congratulations to our resilient and creative Yr 12 Drama students who presented their major works for Drama on Monday for the HSC external examinations. Works included Performance, Theatre Criticism, Costume, Lighting and Promotional Design. Special thanks goes to our wonderful Yr 10 crew, Kyle Banfield, Iris Buisman, Oliver Sigaloff and Samuel Virtue, who ably supported the Yr 12 performers in their final examinations.
The final IB Theatre Collaborative Projects will be filmed on Monday 7 September and made available for families to view via the iLearn Course page. We wish our students all the very best as they work towards this final stage of their Theatre Assessment.
Yr 11 Production
This term, Yr 11 IB and HSC students will present a series of original self devised works featuring physical theatre techniques of Frantic Assembly, DV8 and PUSH. These creative and engaging performances will be filmed in the Drama Studio and made available for families to view via the iLearn Course page.
Drama Competition
The final date for submission is tomorrow Friday 28 August with videos uploaded to iLearn. Judging will take place during Weeks 7 and 8 and the winners will be announced in Week 10. Application forms and information is available here.
Musical 2021
We are pleased to confirm that Grease will be going ahead in 2021, provided the ongoing situation allows us to use our external venue, The Concourse.
Students in the 2020 company will be offered a place next year, but unfortunately current Yr 12 students will not be able to participate as they will not be enrolled at the school in 2021.
We would like to extend our thanks to the Yr 12s for their commitment to the cast, band, production and make-up this year and wish them luck in their continuing Performing Arts journey.
Current cast members with a featured or principal role have the option to keep their current role, or to re-audition for a different role that may have become available. If you choose to re-audition, then your current role will become available for others, but you may also be considered for this role as well.
All other company members have the option to re-audition for a role in the featured ensemble or for a principal role.
All cast members in Yrs 7-11 need to indicate their preference via this Google Form by Friday Week 7 (4 September). All current cast members are guaranteed a place in the 2021 Musical if they complete the Google form to indicate they wish to continue.
Students currently in Yr 6, students who are new to Redlands, those who did not audition this year, and those who were unsuccessful this year, will all have the opportunity to audition for 2021.
The 2021 audition process for all applicants will be confirmed in Week 9 with all audition information placed here.
Students who were in the Band or various production crews this year will be contacted in Term 4 to discuss their preferences.
