Welcome back to all our Drama and Theatre students and families for an exciting Semester 2. Yr 12 Drama and Theatre students will be completing the final examinations in Term 3. We wish them every success and look forward to seeing many of their efforts presented to the public over the next week. Over the holidays, Senior students were involved in a variety of specialist workshops in preparation for their final exams.

Senior Showcase

29 and 30 July at 6.30pm in the Drama Studio

Parents and friends are invited to attend the graduating performances of the group devised major works of the IB Theatre and HSC Drama students on 29 and 30 July at 6.30pm in the Drama Studio. Students have devised original works from a variety of starting points exploring a diverse range of stories.

Shakespeare State Final

The Yr 11 IB Theatre students team competed on Sunday 30 June at the State Carnival at the Seymour Centre. Redlands team came 3rd in the State which is an excellent achievement. The team features Greta Feldmann, Aleisha Lawrence, Apsara Lindeman and Domenica Stuart.

The Shakespeare Carnival is now over for 2019 but if students want more acting in their lives, Sport for Jove is creating a great opportunity for them to challenge themselves and grow as performers with our Youth Ensemble program for high school students. Applications close this week and rehearsals start this weekend! More information and applications here

Drama Competition

20 August at 6.30pm

The Drama Competition will be held on 20 August in the Drama Studio. Students will be competing in the categories of comedy and drama with contemporary performance pieces. All are welcome to join us.

Yr 11 Production

16-17 September at 6.30pm

Yr 11 IB and HSC students will present a series of original works featuring physical theatre scenes based on the techniques of Frantic Assembly. These creative and engaging performances will be held in the Drama Studio at 6.30pm on 16 and 17 September. All are welcome.

Student News

Congratulations to our Arts Captain Asha Boswava who premiered this week on the latest Foxtel miniseries Lambs of God. This series features Ann Dowd (Handmaids Tale) and Esse Davis (Miss Fisher). Lambs of God is a dark, gothic tale about three nuns, each a generation apart, living in an isolated convent by the coast. Asha plays Ann Dowd’s younger self in the series.

Scholarship Opportunity 

Bloom Creative Productions will be putting on a holiday program for children aged 10-18 called Stage X during the October school holidays. The company have generously offered to extend a scholarship to one Redlands student for Stage X. This student will be selected when they apply to #StageX and will be announced on their social media pages as well as a letter being sent to the school. Program information is located here.
