Drama and Theatre

Huge congratulations to Rebecca Ordíz (Burchett), Redlander 2019, who has just been announced in the role of Girl Scout and the cover for the principal role of Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice The Musical, which will open at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne in May.

It’s been amazing to follow Rebecca’s ascent in Musical Theatre, commencing at Redlands as Mowgli in Jungle Book in Year 1 and the White Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland in Year 2, through to Matilda in Gala Arts, Artful Dodger in Oliver!, Wendy in Peter Pan and Fran in Strictly Ballroom, along with winning both Vocal and Theatre Categories in Gala Arts and the Vocal Competitions.

After graduating from Redlands, Rebecca completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Her recent professional roles have included Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Hayes Theatre/September Remedy Productions), Essie in both the Melbourne and Sydney seasons of Parade (Chapel Off Chapel) and most notably, Rosalia in West Side Story on Sydney Harbour (Opera Australia/HOSH).
