Years 10-11 Cocurricular Drama Production – A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Our Years 10-11 Cocurricular Drama Production presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Term 4 at the Zenith Theatre at Chatswood, 1920’s style! A Midsummer Night’s Dream: the tale of Hermia, Demetrius, Lysander, and Helena; four misguided lovers who’s journey into the woods lands them in even more trouble, as members of the fairy kingdom decide to use them as veritable pawns in their own love games. Against the backdrop of the wedding of Duke Theseus and Hippolyta, and the fiery battle of wills between the Fairy King and Queen, Oberon and Titania, the four lovers are challenged by magic and trickery to finally work out what love is all about. We invite all to attend.
Year 9 Drama Excursion – The Visitors
Year 9 Drama attended a thought-provoking and insightful theatre production at the Opera House on Wednesday 11 October. The Visitors is a Sydney Theatre Award-winning production from the 2020 Sydney Festival, by Muruwari playwright Jane Harrison. It explored seven clan leaders in January 1788 who share a momentous decision. It was a highly effective exploration of the elements of drama and impact on audience, which Year 9 Drama have explored throughout the year.
Over the past term, Year 9 Drama students have been working on their performance assessment pieces for their current topic, Docudrama. Students have engaged with the conventions and techniques of Epic Theatre by using newspaper headlines and research into previous historic events to explore an event or issue of their choice. Exploring these performance forms demonstrates how our own true stories can be powerful and provocative material for performance work. The performance evenings will run over two nights, Monday 23 October and Tuesday 24 October in the Drama Studio. The performances will begin at 6.30pm, we warmly invite you to attend, there is no booking needed.
