Legally Blonde Auditions
Harvard’s beloved blonde takes the Redlands stage by pink storm in this fun, upbeat story of self-discovery. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances – this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!
We will be holding auditions for Redlands 2024 Senior Musical: Legally Blonde in Week 8! It would be criminal to miss the opportunity to go to Harvard Law as Elle Woods, or teach a class as the villainous Professor Callahan, or just have the time of your life in the Greek Chorus of the Delta Nu Sorority!
Auditions for Orchestra will be held in Week 9 for our superstar musicians.
All Audition Information can be Found Here
We can’t wait to see all the talent Redlands has to share. What? Like it’s hard?
Yr 12 IB Theatre Solo Performance Evenings
Our Yr 12 IB Performance, Theatre Solo Performances is taking place on Thursday 31 of August and 1 September at 6:30pm in the Drama Studio. This term, students have researched theatre theorist, Anne Bogart, and identified an aspect of her theatre practice to use in their Solo Performances. Students were required to reflect on their learning and how it had been impacted, by performing theatre which was based on the exploration of a theorist’s concepts. We warmly invite you to attend.
Yr 11 IB Theatre Incursions
For the past two weeks the Yr 11 IB theatre class came together and collectively viewed two different National Theatre productions, Jane Eyre directed by Sally Cookson and Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle. Whilst viewing the productions we completed analysis of TEAM – noting down the significant moments that made the plays tension, emotion, atmosphere and meaning through the presentation of production and character elements. Through this process of viewing these two very diversely presented theatre productions, I note the importance of the elements that form the world of theatre.
As a Yr 11 IB student it was interesting and noteworthy to see how all these various elements build a foundation in which audiences are immersed in a world created for the purpose of meaningful presentation of various themes. Through the process of reflection on these incursions and forming a TEAM response for each play I found it useful as a student of theatre on how various performance and production elements are interwoven through plays to create distinct moments intended to resonate with audiences.
In the production of Frankenstein, I was engaged through the unique portrayal of the characters physicalizing which forged tension and was amplified through lighting and sound, confronting the audience in an atmosphere of discomfort. As an audience member I found myself being a part of the creature’s journey, seeing the world through his perspective. Whilst it was interesting noting the various scenes which conveyed these aspects of TEAM, we additionally noticed the intention and impact which the director had crafted.
This experience provided an amazing opportunity for theatre students to collaboratively view, discuss and enjoy performances which also taught us how to effectively apply moments of TEAM in our future performance work. James Stuart, Yr 11 IB Theatre Student
Drama and Theatre: Student of the Week – Selma Anderson
Selma is just one of many fantastic young performers in our Yr 4 Acting class on a Monday afternoon as we continue to work on our class-devised piece for our end of year showcase. As trying to collaboratively write and develop an original piece of theatre is a unique challenge, all students in the class are more than deserving of this award! However, Selma has demonstrated consistently high energy and focus across the entire process and should be especially commended for her great work so far. Well done Selma!
