Yr 8 Drama, Australian Landscapes – Congratulations!
This week, Year 8 Drama students completed their first ever performance night. Over the past semester, students have explored the work of Australian writers and performers who have contributed to Australian drama and theatre. Students have engaged in a range of dramatic forms, performance styles and theatre conventions related to Australian theatre and developed a broad understanding of our cultural heritage and the characteristics of the Australian psyche. Everyone did a fabulous job, and we are very proud of the newly learnt performance skills they have developed and demonstrated. Thank you to the Year 8 Drama teachers: Kathryn Smith, Sarah Sparke, Esther Lamb and Samantha Novis for your fantastic contributions to the evening. We would like to acknowledge the First Peoples of Australia as the first artists, the first storytellers, the first communities and the first creators of culture. Your stories and experiences are the heart of this country. Well done Year 8 Drama!
Drama and Theatre: Student of the Week – Yasmin Allen
An ideal acting student is willing to take risks and throw themselves into whatever role they’re given. It takes courage to try new things in the drama room and Yasmin Allen is courageous.
Yasmin attends Senior Acting on Monday afternoon. She is an energetic participant, collaborating with peers in devised or scripted works. She brings creativity, curiosity and confidence to the drama room and enters the Adams Centre every week a smile and a willingness to give anything a go.
Yasmin is equally able to portray dramatic characters as well as bring the house down with her hilarious antics. She is an ideal student who is very much looking forward to our screen acting component and like a true professional, is looking forward to our end of year performances in front of a live audience.
