Drama and Theatre

What a fantastic week we have had in Drama and Theatre! Our wonderful performers are to be commended on representing Redlands at various external competitions including the Theatresports Australia Competition and the Shakespeare Carnival, Sport for Jove. We were also so honoured to have a Director from the Globe Theatre in London share their insights for a career in the performing arts industry. Redlands Drama and Theatre continues to go from strength to strength and we couldn’t be more proud!

Congratulations to our Theatresports Senior Team!

Fantastic news! Our Year 11 and 12 Theatresports team competed at the Regional Competition on Tuesday 16 of May for the Theatresports Australia Improvisation, All Schools Challenge, and placed Second overall, progressing to the Semi Finals! The students in the team are: Phoebe Barnett (Yr 12), Hallie Hunt (Yr 11), Sholto Mirrlees-Black (Yr 11).

A thank you to their Theatresports teachers, Mrs Sarah Sparkes and Ms Amber Virtue for doing such an excellent job in training our students for this event.

We wish our Intermediate Theatresports team the very best luck for their upcoming competition.

Well Done to our Shakespeare Teams!

We are so proud of our Shakespeare teams who competed at the Regional Carnival at Sydney Girls on Wednesday 16 May. They performed with great commitment and dedication and we couldn’t be more proud. Visiting Artistic Director, Federay Holmes – Globe Theatre

“This week our Drama students had the opportunity to attend a Q and A with Federay Holmes, the Artistic Director at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. She shared her experiences working in the Entertainment Industry and some of her key life events that have led her to where she is today. We were fortunate enough to receive insight and tips into the application process for Performing Arts Universities and her experiences on the audition panel. We are beyond appreciative to have been given this opportunity and we greatly thank her for sharing her knowledge, time and kindness to us. ” (Phoebe Barnett, Drama Captain)

Drama Student of the Week: Byron Kendrigan

By Phoebe Barnett – Drama Captain

Byron has been extremely dedicated over the past few weeks to his preparation and dedication to his rehearsals for the external Theatresports competition. His encouragement towards his team members this week has definitely been appreciated by those around him. This will be Byron’s first external competition and his eagerness to jump right in has been astounding. He continues to work towards his craft and skills in drama and to his dedication to the Drama program at Redlands.
