Drama and Theatre

What a wonderful and fun filled week we have had in Drama of Week 2 of this term! We celebrated our Yr 10 Drama Curriculum performers with their engaging and theatrical performances of Shakespeare, Yr 8 attended Sydney Theatre Company to see the Fantastic Mr Fox as well. Our Extra Subject Drama classes are now starting to develop their performances for our end of year Extra Subject Drama Showcases which we hope you can join us for later in the year. Please come along to our Yr 12 IB Performance evening (taking place in Week 3), they have worked so hard and created thoughtful and innovative performances, we would love to see you there.

Yr 10 Shakespeare Performance Evening

A massive congratulations to our amazing Yr 10 Drama Curriculum theatremakers who performed last Thursday and Friday in the Drama Studio to full houses, a big thank you to all our parents and audience members who came along to support, as well as to the Yr 10 Drama teachers, Stacey Whitmore and Sam Novis who have done great work on the performances and the showcase.

“I believe that the recently past Yr 10 Drama performance night was as incredibly entertaining for its audience members as it was for its performers. As a fellow performer it was a deeply joyful and exhilarating night that brought us experiences to remember into our adulthood as both laughable and educational. I know that I myself will most definitely remember the feeling of lights on my face for years to come and I hope that my peers can know this same joy in a memorable night we all shared.” – Tali Feldman

“The Shakespeare performance evening was a great night to practice our performance skills with our friends and share our Elizabethan experiments and work with the audience. The audience saw a variety of excerpts from plays, ranging from Romeo and Juliet, to The Tempest and Othello. I was encouraged to step out of my comfort zone using Shakespearean techniques like strong annunciation and big movements to interact with the audience. We were proud to share our practice and hope everyone enjoyed the evening!” – Remie Gibbs

Yr 8 Drama Curriculum Excursion – The Fantastic Mr Fox!

In Week 1, our Yr 8 Drama Curriculum classes attended a performance of the Fantastic Mr Fox at the Sydney Theatre Company. The performance had live projection with a revolving stage and it was a wonderful introduction to theatre for our Yr 8 Drama students.

Yr 12 IB Curriculum Performance Evening

Yr 12 IB Theatre present the Collaborative Project Examination on Monday May 8, 6:30pm to 7:40pm at the Drama Studio.

The students perform group-devised work using techniques from theatre company Complicite. This year the students have focussed on the lives of three women: Frida Kahlo, Helen Keller and Gypsy Rose.

We warmly invite you to attend the performance and participate in the stimulating Q and A discussion afterwards. Audience feedback is an important part of their assessment and the students welcome all feedback.
