Drama and Theatre
Last week, a few members of Drama staff attended the NSW Drama Conference. Drama staff from across the state came together to collaborate and share ideas for best teaching practices. The theme of the day was “Renaissance” and this word really encapsulates what students should be experiencing as they integrate themselves back into the classroom. We are shifting back to a time where we can personally share, collaborate and reflect on the past and re-awaken our creative pursuits in a collaborative and expressive environment. As we continue to push through the winter months and work together face-to-face, I look forward to the confidence and skills students will continue to build in the Drama space.
Gala Arts
Students are busily preparing and rehearsing for Gala Arts which will be on Friday 22 July. Submissions for the Gala Arts Photography are still open. All the information is below and can be found on iLearn. Please email drama@redlands.nsw.edu to be added to the page for the submission.
Gala Arts Tickets
Gala Arts tickets will go on sale next week. A booking link will be available on Drama Pulse and an email will be sent home to competitors families.
Senior Curriculum Performance Images
This week Year 12 IB Theatre students performed the Solo Performance and Report which is 30% of their final grade. The students have explored the theories of Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints and have then applied chosen aspects of the theory to their own solo performances. Below are images from the two nights.
Senior Curriculum Performance Evenings
In the upcoming weeks, we have an array of senior curriculum performance evenings, showcasing their classwork over the semester. We encourage friends and family to attend to support all students involved. Please see the information below for these evenings.
Extra-subject Drama and Theatre
Classes are going well. If you want to enrol your child please contact drama@redlands.nsw.edu.au. Some classes are at capacity and have a waitlist.
A few reminders below:
The Extra Subject Drama and Theatre Program automatically renews at the end of Semester 1. Parents do not need to contact the Drama office unless they wish to change their enrolment. Billing takes place prior to the commencement of Semester 2. Four weeks’ written notice to drama@redlands.nsw.edu.au is required if you wish to withdraw from the program.
Please communicate with your child about their extra-curricular classes in the morning. We have had cases where students are in the car line or their designated pick up spot and have needed to be located before class starts. Please ensure any absences are sent to drama@redlands.nsw.edu or your child’s class tutor prior to the lesson.
