Debating

FED

Thank you for a smooth start to the season and congratulations to the Senior A, Yr 9, Yr 8B and Yr 7B teams who all had wins against Barker last week.

This week (Round 2) we will be debating at Pymble Ladies College. Please note that FED Debating times are earlier than last year and therefore we will be leaving immediately after school. Please meet Mr Ockenden at the Adams Centre at 3.30pm sharp. There will be no time to go to the shops. If you want to snack on something you will need to bring a light dinner from home. Most venues provide refreshments, but this is not usually served until later in the evening. All students are required to be at each debate and coaching session of the season.

You will need to sign in with Mr Ockenden and then sign out before you leave to go home. This Friday we are providing an optional return bus back to school. This bus will leave Pymble after the last debate finishes, which should be at about 8.30-8.45pm. Please stay with Mr Ockenden after your debate if you are waiting for the bus.

If you have not already done so, please download the FED handbook and read the information here.

You have been emailed venue details.

This week (Round 1)  we will debate Trinity at home. All Secondary School debaters are required to attend all coaching and Debating sessions regardless of whether they are speaking. At home debates, students who are not speaking will help with chairing debating, keeping time and directing visitors.

Please meet at 3.30pm at the Liggins Quad where you will sign in with Ms Beggs, Ms Blasco and Mr Horner. You will have to set up your Debating room and then you are free until your coaching.

If you have not already done so, please read the ISDA information here.

You have been emailed the rooming allocations for Friday, you will coach in your prep room. At the end of the evening, do not forget to sign out at the counter in the Liggins Quad.
