Debating

Congratulations to FED 7A, 7B and Yr 10 teams who won their Quarter Finals in the FED competition last week. The 8A and Yr 9 teams had very close debates but unfortunately did not progress to the next round. Semi Finals are at St Aloysius this week. The bus will leave Redlands at 4.00pm with Ms Blasco accompanying the students.

Congratulations also to the ISDA Yr 7 and Senior A teams who won their Octo Finals. The ISDA Yr 9 team had a very strong win record but unfortunately don’t progress to the next round. We will receive more details about ISDA Quarter Finals early next week.

The Great Debate

The Great Debate was a spectacular success with a capacity crowd out to watch the teachers debate students on whether formal examinations prepare them for real world careers. The teachers were ably represented by Mr Skinner, Dr Regis and Mr Corcoran. They were entertaining and one even broke out in song but at the end of the day the teachers were no match for our very proficient senior students: Aleisha Lawrence, Mackenzie Lofts and Debating Captian, Ela Koh. Lachlan van der Pluijm was our engaging Master of Ceremonies and Ms Rolon, aided by Lindsay McNeil, adjudicated the debate. All the students are congratulated on their first win in what is sure to become an annual tradition.
