Day of Dance

The RDA had a mammoth day of dance on Sunday with our Annual Dance Awards, the Redlands House Pea-Nutcracker and the Junior RAD Variations. What a joyful day! 

We would like to thank Virginia Clayton and all the Friends of Dance Committee for their hard work and impeccable taste transforming Dunnet Hall into a Spring Picnic Brunch. Beautiful performances by all, a farewell dance by our amazing Year 12 dancers, inspirational special guests and a joyful heel and toe polka performed with few brave parents and teachers amongst the entire Academy cohort.

We also recognised the below Academy students from Year 7 to Year 11, who exemplified the values of Dedication, Leadership or Excellence.

The Pea-Nutcracker was a huge success with every Redlands House dancer engaged and enthralled by the production and eager to show their dances. We would like to thank our Junior Ballet Performers and our Senior Soloists who spared time to work with Ms Revie in creating this pea sized rendition of The Nutcracker.

Our Junior students then took to the stage to perform their RAD Variations ahead of their upcoming exams where Redlands Ballet coach and former Australian Ballet Company ballerina gave constructive feedback. 

Annual General Meeting (AGM) | Redlands Friends of Dance (FOD) Committee

The Friends of Dance (FOD) Committee is delighted to invite any interested parents, and especially parents of students in the Redlands Dance Academy, to the AGM of the FOD Committee.

The FOD Committee assists the Head of the Redlands Dance Academy throughout the year with events and concert preparations, among other general assistance for the Dance Academy. 

The AGM will be held at 8:30am on Thursday 26 September 2024 in Parkes Hall (studio P1.9) on Junior Campus.

At the AGM a vote will be taken on the following Committee positions, which will be held for 2 years:

• Chair
• Secretary 
• Treasurer

The Committee would also appreciate the assistance of any interested parents for the following: 

• Secondary School parent coordinators (x2)
• Junior School parent coordinators (x3) – for Redlands House; for Prep (K-2) and for Junior (Year 3-6) 
• Hair coordinator
• Make-up coordinator
• Volunteer coordinator

We hope you’ll be able to join us. Nibbles and refreshments will be provided. No RSVP required.

RAD Exams and Class Awards

Our Royal Academy of Dance exams and class awards are taking place this week.

If your child is taking part, please visit our RAD Exams Pulse page for further details, for example on what to wear to the exam and what time to arrive.  

ISTD Jazz and Tap Exams

The ISTD Jazz and Tap will be held over three days:

• Saturday 21 September
• Sunday 22 September
• Monday 23 September

Holiday Rehearsals

Our holiday rehearsal dates have changed. The holiday rehearsals will now run Friday 11 October – Sunday 13 October.

Absent or Away from Class

If your child is sick or will miss their dance class then please complete the RDA Absent from Class form – CLICK HERE

Absent or Away from a Private Lesson

Please contact your private lesson teacher and cc the Dance Department. 24 hours notice is required for any cancellations. Any private lesson missed with less than 24 hours notice will be charged as a received lesson.
