Academy Update

This year of dancing is off to a really good start! Ms Revie has been thrilled by the focus and hard work that she is seeing in every class, it will be so beneficial for your personal development and enjoyment to keep up the good work throughout the entire year.

We are excited that our Redlands House and Kindi classes are going so well, and Mini Movers is a massive hit with the children. So far the favourite genre has been HipHop, but jazz comes a close 2nd! There are still spaces in these classes, so take a look on our dance Timetables if you have a little one who loves to dance.

Our new Lyrical classes have also been a big hit for both Juniors and Seniors. The Saturday 3-4pm Year 7-9 class has been so well attended that we have decided to add another at 1-2pm on Saturdays (in the Adams Centre). So, if anyone wishes to try this class out feel free to turn up for a trial.

Miss Naomi, Ms Jasmin and Ms Sophie have been loving working with you all. Thank you for making them feel so welcome! Ms Sophie is away for a couple of weeks filming Dancing with the Stars, but looks forward to returning to the Academy to create some amazing pieces for the Jazz Performance Groups. Eisteddfod group details and dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Please contact us if you would like to attend the Australian Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Final Dress Rehearsal on Monday 19 February (7pm) at the Capitol Theatre. This is an extraordinary ballet, very colourful and a lot of fun. We still have some tickets at $65. Crazy to miss this chance!

*Please note this is not a Redlands excursion therefore students will need to be escorted to the ballet by an adult.

Basically Ballet | New Class for Year 6-8 Students

For those of you who are interested in either taking up Ballet or dusting off your old Ballet shoes, Basically Ballet is the class for you.

Ms Amanda Sommerville will be teaching this fun, simple class that will help you understand the basic elements of Ballet in a relaxed atmosphere. It is never too late!!!!

Open to Year 6/7/8 students (no prior ballet experience required).

Enrolments are now open for the first class on FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY at 6.45pm-7.45pm. CLICK HERE to  book your spot. We look forward to seeing you at class very soon!

Study Centre | Roseby Library | Year 7-11 Students

From Week 3, Study Centre will open after school for students in Year 7 to 11 in the Roseby Library. Students wishing to remain behind after school to engage in home learning or assessment preparation are required to use the Roseby Library for this purpose.

Ms Alice will supervise the Year 7-11 Study Centre in Roseby Library Monday to Thursday from 3.30pm-7.00pm.

Note: Only Year 12 students are permitted to use the Learning Hub after school.

Students staying late to attend Study Centre in Roseby Library may purchase Study Centre Dinner via Flexi-Schools, as an additional offering. A Study Centre Dinner order needs to be placed on the day and collected from the Canteen between 5.30-5.45pm.

Withdrawing from a Semester 1 Class 

A reminder that the deadline for withdrawing from Semester 1 classes was SUNDAY 11 FEBRUARY. After this date an administration fee is applied for any withdrawals from dance. For further details please see our Terms & Conditions on RDA Pulse home page.

Absent or Away from Class

Dance Class: If your child is sick or will miss their dance class then please complete our RDA ABSENT FROM CLASS FORM. 

Dance for Sport Class: If your child is sick then please complete our RDA ABSENT FROM CLASS FORM and email a medical certificate to dance@redlands.nsw.edu.au 

Private Lesson: If your child is sick or will miss their private lesson then please email your private lesson teacher and cc to dance@redlands.nsw.edu.au.  24 hours notice is required for any cancellations. Any private lesson missed with less than 24 hours notice will be charged as a received lesson. Note: for private lessons please do not complete the RDA ABSENCE FORM.
