Dance Week 1
The Dance Academy is off to an amazing start!
Teachers have been thrilled by the energy and focus from every student in all classes and can’t wait to see everyone in the coming weeks, arriving with the correct uniforms and hair tidy.
Below are our Mini Movers, demonstrating their beautiful “first positions”. Well done everybody!
Please note that the Dance Academy will be maintaining the no parent policy inside the Parkes Hall building whilst classes are running.
Saturday Dance Classes
Saturday dance starts this Saturday 10 February. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone.
Ballet Buns for Kindergarten – Year 6
A warm welcome to all our Ballerinas.
Please look at the instructions below so you can practise your Ballet Buns at home.
If possible, ballet students should come to school with their hair in a bun, ready for their ballet class. Academy staff will be on hand to tidy hair prior to class.
If this is not possible, Academy staff will assist students with their hair.
Please make sure you child has a brush/comb and a bun kit in their ballet bag (see below).

A gentle reminder to parents/carers to please ensure your child’s school uniform and dance uniform are named, including ballet bags and ballet shoes. This is particularly important for our younger dancers. |
Dance Uniforms – Seniors
A reminder that sport uniform is not to be worn for dance. Please see our UNIFORMS Pulse page for information on what to wear to your dance classes.
Changing a Class
The new timetable is filled to the brim with a variety of dance genres for students to enjoy. We are still tweaking room allocations and class rolls so please check your student’s Activities on the Redlands App and let us know if your classes are incorrect.
Please note that any changes to enrolments after Sunday 11 February will incur an administration fee (see our Terms and Conditions on the DANCE ACADEMY Pulse page and our Enrolments Pulse page for further details).
New Parent Pick-Up Point after Dance: for Year 1-2 Students
Due to construction works near Junior Reception, we have a new “parent pick-up point”, until further notice. This applies for our Year 1 & Year 2 students dancing during the week, and all students dancing on Saturdays.
Our new parent pick-up point is located in front of the play equipment outside Parkes Hall.
Please see the map below for the location of the new parent pick-up point. We will also have signs up, directing you to the new pick-up point.
As per signage, children are not allowed on the play equipment before/after Dance classes.
Please note that the Murdoch Street pedestrian gate is open from 2.30pm – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, and is closed all day Saturday and Sunday. When the Murdoch Street gate is locked, access to Parkes Hall for Academy Dance classes is via the gate off Allister Street, adjacent to Junior Reception.
Hip Hop Trial Class for Senior Students | Friday 14 February
All welcome, no experience necessary.
Please bring track pants, t-shirt and trainers.

Tickets for the Australian Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
We have secured 40 tickets for the Australian Ballet’s dress rehearsal of Christopher Wheeldon’s extravagant Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at the Capitol Theatre on Monday 19 February at 7pm. Masterfully translated from Lewis Carroll’s beloved book, Wheeldon brings the humour and eccentricities of the original story to the ballet stage in a fantastical tale. Watch as the Queen of Hearts rampages around her court, the White Rabbit shimmies his tail and the Caterpillar sparkles in 16 crystal-covered pointe shoes.

Absent or Away from Class
Dance Class: If your child is sick or will miss their dance class then please complete our RDA ABSENCE FORM.
Dance for Sport Class: If your child is sick then please complete our RDA ABSENCE FORM and email a medical certificate to dance@redlands.nsw.edu.au
Private Lesson: If your child is sick or will miss their private lesson then please email your private lesson teacher and cc to dance@redlands.nsw.edu.au. 24 hours notice is required for any cancellations. Any private lesson missed with less than 24 hours notice will be charged as a received lesson. Note: for private lessons do not complete the RDA ABSENCE FORM.
