Community Update

We are fortunate to have an altruistic community at Redlands.  Parents and friends of the School proudly support the enrichment of our students’ lives in many ways, through regular donations and by giving one of the most special gifts of all – their time.

Redlands, like most independent schools, has a Foundation that supports the School’s strategic and philanthropic programs.  The Foundation Advisory Committee (FAC) provides the School with specialist counsel in support of the short and long-term objectives of these important programs.  The FAC’s experienced stewardship of our philanthropic program enables Redlands to continue to invest in the growth and advancement of the School.

Scholarship funding is a key focus of the FAC and this week we were delighted to announce the awarding of two means-tested scholarships. We look forward to welcoming Lalibela Gregory, our 2024 Dr Sue Morey AM Scholarship recipient, and Jackson Trude, our 2024 Peter Lennox Scholarship recipient, at Redlands next year. To read more about our scholarship recipients and our popular Melbourne Cup event please check out the Foundation section of today’s Note Day.

A reminder that we will be hosting an information evening on the Redlands Parent and Carer Midawarr Arnhem Land Trip scheduled on Thursday 14 September. To whet your appetite on what you might experience on this once in a lifetime trip, click here to watch a video of our 2023 Year 9 cohort and their teachers immerse themselves in this ancient culture.  The information session will provide more detailed information on this truly unique experience scheduled for May 2024 and offered exclusively to the Redlands community. This is quite literally a once in a lifetime opportunity to deeply explore miny’tji (art), manikay (song), bunggul (dance) and story-telling at Gulkula, the site of the annual Garma Festival. To reserve a place at our information evening please click here.

It was a pleasure to have our Dads and special friends on the Junior Campus earlier this week.  Our students and staff were delighted and excited to host our guests before School for coffee and snacks in the Piazza.

My thanks to those who donated uniforms, and to the Redlands Uniform Shop and the ever active and passionate Redlands Parent and Friends Association (RPFA) for their collective effort in running the Second Hand Uniform Sale last. This initiative enables us to recycle pre-loved uniforms back into the community whilst raising valuable funds for our means-tested Scholarship Fund.

Thank you for your continued guidance and support and as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement team, or to me directly, should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
