Community Update
It was a pleasure to welcome more than 200 parents, grandparents, students and carers onto the Senior Campus early this week for our Secondary School Open Morning. Students from Year 9, supported by our leadership team, hosted small group tours answering questions and providing a wonderful insight into life at Redlands for our guests. Tomorrow, our Year 6 families will be exploring our Senior Campus as they begin their transition to Secondary School. Redlands reputation as a leading school of choice for families both nationally and internationally continues to grow through our focus on each individual student, exceptional teachers and world-class learning programs and resources.
We were also delighted to host our Year 9 parents, carers and students on Tuesday night for the ‘Experience to Extend’ information session hosted by our Secondary School leadership team. This important session explored foundations of success, along with the challenges and expectations held, within the diverse range of opportunities available to this cohort of students as the finalise their preparations for travel to Arnhem Land this weekend. Our Year 9 students, and accompanying staff, will be camping at the Gulkula site, a short drive from Gove airport and the regional hub of Nhulunbuy. Gulkula is a significant Gumatj ceremonial site widely accepted by all clans as a meeting place. Our travelling party are in for a truly remarkably and enlightening experience.
Our motto, ‘Let your light shine’, is a phrase taken from The Sermon on the Mount, ‘Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven’ (Matthew 5:16 NIV). At Redlands we aim to provide extensive opportunities to enable each student’s light to shine and to foster the light in those around them, and those who need support. The Redlands Parent Prayer Group will gather on Monday 29 May from 7 to 9pm in the David Armstrong Room at St Peters Cremorne. This meeting provides the opportunity for us to come together in prayer for our school community.
Tickets are selling fast for the highly anticipated Redlands Gala Ball. We are delighted to announce that Soul Shack, one of Sydney’s most in demand musical groups, will be dazzling us with their musical repertoire on the night. All proceeds from this gala fundraising event will benefit the Dr Sue Morey AM Scholarship Appeal. For more information on tickets and sponsorship of this uniquely Redlands event please visit the Foundation section of today’s Note Day.
I remain grateful for the continued guidance and support our community provides and, as ever, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement team should you have any feedback, suggestions or questions.
